Police recaptured St. Elizabeth lock-up escapee.

ST. CATHERINE, Jamaica— Police from the St Catherine North Division recaptured another of the group of eight prisoners who escaped from the Black River lock-up during a jailbreak on June 19, 2023.

The Police recaptured Kenneth Stewart on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in Tryall Heights in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Stewart was awaiting a murder trial when he escaped.

The St. Catherine North Division commanding officer, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Howard Chambers, said law enforcement officers also took Stewart baby’s mother into custody on harboring a fugitive charge.

He reminded the public that harboring a fugitive or felon is unlawful.

“Just want to remind the public that harboring a fugitive is a criminal offense, and so we are asking the public to cooperate with the police; call the police as soon as you see any of these escapees,” SSP Chambers urged.
