TRELAWNY, Jamaica – On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Detectives from the Falmouth Criminal Investigations Branch released the identity of a suspect they deemed wanted for murder in Trelawny.
The police said Akeem Frame, otherwise called ‘Chubby’ of Peel Street, Falmouth, and Hague in Trelawny, is wanted for the murder of Kemar Williams, o/ct ‘Kenny,’ committed on Monday, July 31, 2023.
The police encouraged anyone with information that can assist the police in locating Frame to contact the Falmouth police at 876-954-3271, police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.
Police charged a rape suspect on the run for five months.
On Monday, September 18, 2023, detectives in St Mary charged a St. Catherine taxi operator accused of raping a female passenger after he turned himself over to the police.
Martel Hermit, o/c ‘Juju,’ age 33, a taxi operator and resident from St. Catherine, who has been on the run since April 2023, after being listed as wanted by the St. Mary PD, turned himself over to the police on Monday and was subsequently charged.
According to the police, on April 14, 2023, at about 9:40 P.m., a woman was a passenger in Hermit’s taxi, and an argument developed when the woman noticed that Hermit had detoured. Hermit reportedly stopped the cab, knocked the woman unconscious, and sexually assaulted her.
The alleged rape happened in Pear Tree Grove, St Mary.
The complainant subsequently reported the matter to the police, and the police launched an investigation—and listed Hermit as wanted.
Hermit turned himself over to the police on Monday, September 18, 2023.
His court date is pending.
Police held suspect with a gun after he threatened JPS disconnection crew.
On Monday, September 18, 2023, the police arrested and charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act after law enforcement officers allegedly removed a prohibited weapon from his person as he engaged a service disconnection crew from JPS in a verbal altercation in Waterford, Portmore in st. Catherine.
The police charged Lamari Joseph, age 20, a so-called recording artiste of Genus Way in Waterford and Dempshire Pen in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Portmore Police, at about 1:30 p.m., law enforcement officers were conducting duties with a JPS team when two men began arguing with the workers about them disconnecting illegal connections.
The police said Joseph threatened the JPS crew, and law enforcement officers accosted and body-searched him.
During the search, the police officers removed a Ruger pistol fitted with a magazine containing ten 9mm cartridges from his person.
The police subsequently charged the suspect after he gave a caution statement in the presence of his attorney.
His court appearance date is pending.
