Jury problems forced Judge to adjourn the “Beachy Stout” trial until Monday, September 25, 2023.

JURY problems escalated further on Wednesday in the murder trial of Everton “Beachy Stout” McDonald and his co-accused, Oscar Barnes, in the Home Circuit Court in Kingston, forcing the trial adjournment and the discharging of the seven-member jury, impaneled on Monday, September 18, 2023.

The matter will resume on Monday, September 25, 2023, when the Court will select a new set of jurors.

‘Beachy Stout’ and Barnes are on trial for the July 20, 2020, murder of Tonia McDonald, who was Everton’s second wife.

Authorities found her partially burnt body slumped beside her scorched motor car on the Sherwood Forest main road in Portland, with her throat slashed.

At the start of the trial on Monday, September 18, 2023, two men selected for jury refused to swear on the Bible or affirm that they would do nothing to compromise the case.

One of the men blatantly refused and told the Judge that he would not swear on the Bible because of his religious beliefs, and he also declined to give an affirmation, claiming he was of the view that he would still be swearing.

Presiding Judge Chester Stamp discharged the two men.

The Court replaced the two men immediately, and the trial got underway with the first witness, a former employee of ‘Beachy Stout,’ taking the stand to give testimony.

But another jury issue popped up on Tuesday, and the matter further escalated on Wednesday.

Could it be ‘Beachy Stout’ corrupted the jury pool? It is not out of the realm of possibilities. Let’s see what happened on Monday, September 25, 2023.
