Residents found farmer dead in 12-foot pit in St. Mary.

ST MARY, Jamaica – On Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023, residents of the Roadside District in Islington, St. Mary, found a fellow resident’s lifeless body in a pit near his home.

The police identified the deceased as Linton George Thomas, 41, o/c ‘Bobo’ or ‘Ben Up,’ age 41, a late farmer of the District.

According to reports, at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, residents heard several loud explosions coming from the direction of where Thomas lived, but nobody bothered to call the police.

At about 10:30 on Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023, a family friend checked on Thomas, but they did not see him. 

However, the person saw what appeared to be blood leading from the house to a two-story unfinished concrete structure.

Residents, Thomas’ dog, and family members searched the premises. And they found Thomas’ body in a pit about 12 feet deep.

The police needed the help of the Port Maria fire department to retrieve the body, the police said.

The police are investigating the incident.

Police charged a Trelawny man who shot his neighbor during an argument.

Police in Falmouth, Trelawny, charged a male suspect after he allegedly shot and injured a neighbor during an altercation on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The police charged Orie Armstrong, age 37, a laborer from Falmouth in Trelawny, with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

The Falmouth police reported that at about 11:00 a.m., Armstrong and his neighbor had a disagreement, and Armstong went to his house and returned with a gun.

Armstrong allegedly fired several gunshots at the neighbor, hitting him in the abdomen. 

The neighbor escaped, and residents assisted him to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

The neighbor reported the incident to the police, and Armstrong turned himself in later that day.

The police charged him on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

His court date is pending.
