The Spanish Town police reported that a suspect on bail for weapons charges was shot dead in Spanish Town, St Catherine, Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Lindon Omar Minott, o/c ‘Chubby,’ age 33, of Clayton Way, Willowdene, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The police said on Tuesday, August 1, at about 7:00 am, residents found Minott’s body along Clayton Way with a single gunshot wound to his head and summoned the police.

Upon arrival, the police transported Minott to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

Investigators confirmed that Minott was on bail for unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Police charged a 23-year-old thug with 2022 murder of a woman in Kingston.

KINGSTON, Jamaica— On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the police charged a male suspect with the fatal shooting of a woman along Malvern Avenue in Kingston on Saturday, August 20, 2022. 

The police charged Roberto Green, age 23, of Victoria Avenue in Kingston, with the murder of Sulaine Smith, a late resident of a Malvern Avenue address in Kingston.

According to reporting, at about 10:40 pm, on the day in question, Smith was among a group of people along the roadway on Malvern Avenue playing games when Green and other armed men approached the group and opened gunfire, hitting Smith multiple times.

Citizens alerted the police. Upon their arrival, the police transported Smith to the hospital, where she died.

The police said Green, a violence producer in custody since February 23, 2023, for illegally possessing a firearm, was charged with Smith’s murder after eyewitnesses pointed him out during an identification parade on Friday, July 28, 2023.

His court appearance date is pending.

Police charged a 61-year-old man for assaulting a senior citizen in Manchester.

Christiana police charged a senior citizen with assault after allegedly kicking a 76-year-old business person in the chest during an altercation, in Craig Head District, Christiana, Manchester, on Monday, July 31, 2023.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the police charged Raymond Clarke, age 61, a farmer, of Craig Head District, Christiana, Manchester, with assault occasioning bodily harm. 

According to reporting, at about 3:00 pm, on the day in question, Clarke and the 76-year-old businessman were involved in a dispute in the community. And during the altercation, Clark allegedly kicked the complainant in the chest–causing pain. 

The complainant made a report to the police. And following an investigation, the police arrested and charged Clarke. 

The police are yet to decide on his court appearance date.
