Trelawny police have launched an investigation into the murder of a male who was shot dead as he sat in his car in the New Housing Scheme in Hague, Trelawny, early Monday morning, July 31, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as Kemar Williams, age 30, a former chef of Water Lane, Falmouth Trelawny.
According to the police, at about 1:10 am, on the day in question, Williams was at the housing scheme sitting in his Mazda Premacy motor car when residents heard loud explosions.
According to reporting, Williams drove off a short distance after the explosions before he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a wall.
Citizens alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police found the victim partially hanging out of the car with a bullet wound to his back.
The police transported the injured man to Falmouth Hospital, where he died.
The police did not mention a motive for the murder.

The police had charged a suspect who a security guard shot and injured when he attempted to rob a female gas pump attendant at a gas station on Slipe Road, in St Andrew, in June 2023.
The police said they charged Collin Campbell, age 24, a groundsman, with assault with intent to rob, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the police, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at about 5:00 pm, Campbell and his accomplice drove a motorcycle to a gas station on Slipe Road–posing as a customer, one of the men pointed a gun at the female attendant and demanded that she handed over her properties.
The woman raised the alarm, and an on-duty security guard challenged the men. And after a brief exchange of gunfire, the men escaped, leaving a pistol behind.
However, Campbell showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. The authorities admitted him for treatment under police guard. And the complainant pointed him out to the police.
On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the police charged Campbell upon his release from the hospital.
His court appearance date is pending.
