ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— Spanish Town detectives arrested a 40-year-old man whom the police fingered as a suspect in the killing of his 56-year-old sister.
The police recently took the suspect into custody after Nicola Ogilvie, an animal groomer, was found dead by relatives at her home in White Water Meadows in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
According to reporting, on July 19, 2023, at about 11:00 pm, the suspect and his sister were at home when the two siblings started to argue.
During the dispute, the suspect used a blunt object and hit his sister on the head multiple times.
At about 11:00 am the following day, family members visited the home and found Ogilvie’s lifeless body on her bed. They summoned the police.
Upon arrival, the police found Ogilvie lying on her side clad in a black Merino, blue shorts, and a pair of brown slippers–and her head bashed in.
The police processed the scene and removed Ogilvie’s body to the Spanish Town hospitals, where the authorities pronounced her dead.
The police later transferred the body to the morgue pending a post-mortem.
In the meantime, the investigation continues as the police interrogate the suspect.
Trelawny police charged a Kingston man with shooting intent.
TRELAWNY, Jamaica— Detectives attached to the Trelawny Police Division arrested a suspect who allegedly shot and injured a man several times in Lowe River, Trelawny, on Monday, Jun 26, 2023.
The police identified the suspect as Tevin ‘Gavin’ Smith, age 26, of Queensborough Drive, Kingston 19.
According to the Falmouth police, at about 2:30 am, on June 26, 2023, the complainant was walking in the community when Smith allegedly pounced upon him and opened fire–hitting the complainant several times.
Citizens summoned the police. Upon arrival, the police assisted the injured man to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him for treatment.
On Friday, Jul 28, 2023, Smith, accompanied by a justice of the peace, surrendered to the Ulster Spring Police Station.
The police subsequently charged Smith with wounding with intent, illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, and using a gun to commit a felony.
His court appearance date is pending.
