The St Elizabeth police reported that they arrested two men in Braes River after they received an SOS regarding an attempted robbery on Sunday, July 23, 2023.Sunday.

According to the police, at about 3:45 am, on Sunday, July 23, 2023, the complainant summoned the police after learning that men were breaking into his bar in Braes River.

The complainant went to the establishment to investigate, but men traveling in a Toyota Voxy motor car greeted him with gunshots and fled.

The complainant alerted the police. Soon after, the police intercepted a Toyota Corolla motor car near the scene of the attempted robbery they believed was the pilot car. The police took the driver into custody.

Meanwhile, another police patrol intercepted the Toyota Voxy in Elim District. 

Upon seeing the police, the men abandoned the vehicle and opened fire at the patrol. The police returned the fire, but the men escaped.

The police would subsequently arrest a second suspect. 

Both men will remain in custody pending further investigation. The police seized both vehicles.

Hanover Gum Shoes charged man after a gun attack.

Gum Shoes in Hanover have arrested and charged a man concerning a security guard’s fatal shooting and another’s injury in a car along the Shettlewood Main Road in Ramble in July 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Dwayne Barnes, age 43, late security guard of Awful Gully, Bickersteth, St James.

The police charged Steve McDonald, age 35, a resident of Land Top, Chester Castle, Hanover, with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

According to the Lucea police, on Thursday, July 6, at about noon, Barnes was a passenger in a Nisan AD Wagon motor car when McDonald and other armed thugs attacked the vehicle and began firing shots, killing Barnes and injuring another man.

The police launched an investigation which led them to arrest McDonald. The police subsequently charged Mc Donald after a question session in the presence of his attorney.

His court appearance date is pending..

Police arrested a man at a Mount Salem bar after they found a Glock pistol in his bag. 

St James police reported the seizure of a Glock 26 pistol fitted with a magazine containing eight .40 rounds of ammunition at a bar in Mount Salem, St James, on Sunday morning, July 23, 2023.

According to the police, at about 1 am, on Sunday, July 23, 2023, law enforcement officers conducted a snap search at a business establishment in the area, and they found the firearm in a bag.

They arrested a male patron who claimed the bag. 

The police withheld his identity pending further investigation.
