Policeman among four arrested following Bog Walk shooting and ammo seizure.

The Police High Command reported that on Thursday, July 13, 2023, detectives from the St Catherine North Police Division arrested four men, including a colleague, following the shooting of a 21-year-old man and the seizure of 110 rounds of ammunition.

According to the police, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at about 8:00 pm, a police team attached to the Bog Walk police station responded to the sounds of gunshots near the Enid Bennett High School.

During an inspection of the area, the police reportedly observed spent casings on the roadway and found a man, who identified himself as a policeman hiding in bushes. 

The cops escorted the policeman to the Bog Walk police station, where he reportedly revealed he had been in the area with three other men who drove off in his Honda Fit motor car.

The police later intercepted the Honda Fit with three men aboard. And during a search of the vehicle, the police found 110 rounds of ammunition.

Further investigation revealed that a man had gotten shot in the area, and friends assisted him to the hospital.

The police are investigating the matter. 

Police charged a businesswoman concerning St James gun and ammunition seizure.

The police confirmed they charged one of the two women arrested concerning a gun and ammunition seizure during a Joint Anti-Gang Task Force operation in Green Pond, St James, last Thursday, July 13, 223.

The cops identified the woman as Sheryl McCallum, age 48, a Green Heights Mews, Green Pond businesswoman. 

The police charged McCallum with several breaches of the Firearms Act, including the following:

  • Stockpiling of prohibited weapons, 
  • Dealing in prohibited weapons, 
  • Sixteen counts of possession of prohibited weapons.
  • Unauthorized possession of ammunition, 
  • Possession of assorted parts of firearms, 
  • Unauthorized use of premises for storage of firearms and ammunition.

The police say about 4:30 am on Thursday, July 13, 2023, law enforcement officers were in the Green Heights Mews when they carried out a targeted search at premises occupied by McCallum. And during the search, they seized three rifles, two pistols, and 466 assorted rounds of ammunition in her possession.

The police took McCallum into custody and later charged her. The date for her court appearance is pending.

Central Kingston Police charged ‘Short Boss’ with conspiracy to murder.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police confirmed that they had indicted a Kingston man for his role before and after the fatal shooting of a man on Orange Street on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The police charged Rushane Anderson, o/c ‘Blacks’ and ‘Short Boss,’ age 28, a security guard of Willow Drive, Cockburn Pen, with accessory before the fact, accessory after the fact, and conspiracy to murder following the fatal shooting of Craig Johnson, o/c ‘Big Head,’ a laborer of Orange Street in Kingston.

According to Gum Shoes from the Kingston Central Police Division, at about 9:45 am, on June 30, 2023, Johnson was in his yard on Orange Street when a Toyota motorcar drove up with Anderson and the other men. 

The men alighted from the vehicle and allegedly opened fire, hitting Johnson.

Police personnel heard the explosions and investigated, and Anderson and his accomplices fired shots at the law enforcement officers. The police officers returned the gunfire, hitting two of the four men. 

The motorcar collided with a wall. Anderson and one of the men escaped on foot in the area. The police later arrested Anderson. They charged him after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

The police are yet to finalize a court date for Anderson.
