The police reported that on Friday, July 14, 2023, armed thugs shot and wounded a man and his three-year-old toddler at their Chatham, St James home.

The police report says at about 8:00 pm, the 38-year-old man, the child, and other family members were at home when heavily armed bandits invaded the house.

The gunmen opened fire, hitting the man and his child before escaping on foot.

Concerned citizens alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police rushed the man and his son to the hospital, where the authorities admitted them in serious condition.

The police could not theorize a motive for the shooting. But an active investigation is in progress.

40-year-old man shot dead in St James, cops seek dialogue cousin.

The Police High Command is appealing to the public for information about the murder of Omar ‘Ras’ Nichols, age 40, a late resident of Top Hill, in Mount Carey, St James.

According to the police, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at about 10:45 am, Nichols was in his yard when armed thugs shot and killed him.

Detectives have zeroed in on a cousin- Omoy Largie, o/c ‘Not Nice,’ who also resides in the Top Hill community, as a Person of Interest in the case.

According to preliminary reports, the murder might have stemmed from a dispute between Nichols and his cousin, Omoy Largie.

The police asked Largie to turn himself into the Freeport police station by midday, Sunday, July 16, 2023. And appeals to the community to help them investigate by sharing information about Largie’s whereabouts or the incident by calling Crime Stop at 311, NIB Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.
