The police have arrested and charged a Kingston businessperson after they allegedly shot and injured a man during a confrontation on Beeston Street, Kingston, in June.

The police identified the accused as Derval Thompson, o/c ‘Coolie’ and ‘Indian,’ age 42, a businessman and resident of Love Lane, Kingston. They charged him with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the report, Thompson confronted the complainant on Beeston Street about a dispute the complainant had with another person elsewhere. And during the back and forth, Thompson allegedly pulled a pistol, shot the victim, and escaped on foot.
Residents summoned the police. The police rushed the complainant to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him for treatment.
On Sunday, June 25, 2023, the police arrested Thompson. The police charged him on Monday, July 3, 2023.
The police are yet to decide on a court appearance date for Thompson.
St James farmer killed as he played with children.
St James detectives responsible for the Rosemount Community reported that unknown thugs shot and killed a farmer as he played with a group of children in the Community on Monday, July 3, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Lenroy Buchanan, age 48, farmer of Rosemount, St James.
According to a release from the Mount Salem police, on Monday, July 3, 2023, at about 5:30 pm, Buchanan was playing with the children along a section of the roadway when two men armed with handguns approached him. Then, the men opened fire, hitting Buchanan several times before escaping on foot.
Residents rushed Buchanan to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
The police could not pinpoint a motive for the deadly shooting. An investigation is in progress.
Motorcyclist killed after he collided with a wall in Manchester.
MANCHESTER, Jamaica: The Manchester police department reported that a Manchester motorcyclist died from injuries he received when he collided into a wall along the Downs to Alligator Pond motorcyclist Main Road in Manchester on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

So far, the police have only identified the deceased as Quwayne, a resident of Bent Town near the Manchester/ St Elizabeth border.
According to preliminary reports, on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at about 3:40 pm, the motorcyclist was traveling on the main road when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a wall along the Sea Air corridor. Upon impact, he was ejected from the bike and sustained severe head injuries.
The police transported him to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
