According to media reports, top gumshoes from two police divisions continue to scan through information to determine what led to the abduction and attempted murder of an 8-year-old female child on Thursday.
According to the police, the abductor took the child from Braeton Primary School in Portmore, St Cathrine.
Commanding Officer for St Catherine South police division Christopher Phillips visited the school on Friday, June 9, 2023, and said the top operatives are working to determine how and who removed the child from school.
The senior officer said the police would make an official statement once it gathered sufficient information.
In the meantime, Marlon Nesbeth, Officer in charge of the St Andrew Central Division, said detectives are preparing for an early breakthrough.
According to Nesbeth, the police are fine-tuning their investigation, and expectations are high that the police will flush out the perpetrators of the gruesome crime.
According to reports, the abductor slashed the child’s throat before throwing her from a vehicle along Roosevelt Avenue in the St. Andrew Central police division.
As she ambled across the roadway, she made contact with a vehicle. And the driver stopped to assist her. They noticed that the child had a wound to her neck and rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

The police identified the deceased as Junior Barrett, age 33, late resident of Ferry District, Kingston 20. Those injured include a handyman, age 34, from a Greater Portmore, St Catherine address, and a 24-year-old man from a Kingston 20 address.
According to reports, Barrett and one of the injured men were sitting in the plaza when a man brandishing a gun approached them and started shooting at Barrett.
Barrett got shot in the upper body. The other man fled the scene but got shot in his left leg. The second injured man was walking in the plaza when he got shot in the upper body.
The police rushed the three injured men to the hospital, where Barrett died. Hospital authorities admitted the other two men for treatment.
The police have not theorized a motive for the shooting.
Police say they are yet to establish a motive for the attack.
