According to preliminary reports, the female student attends William Knibb High School. And at about 7:00 am, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, she was riding to school on a motorcycle driven by a relative when another motorcycle with two armed men drove up and opened fire.
It appears the motorcycle driver might have been the target. But he managed to evade the shooters without any injuries. But the motorcycle driver later discovered that the 13-year-old female student got shot.
The police rushed the injured child to the hospital, where the authorities admitted her in serious, stable condition.

According to the police in St Andrew, they have launched a high-level investigation into an alleged robbery at the Pavilion Jewellers in Springs Plaza, along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.

Man shot and injured at child’s funeral
According to the police, a funeral for a child came to an abrupt end on Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023, after a man was shot and injured outside the church at the intersection of Kew Lane and Maxfield Avenue in St Andrew.
Eyewitness’ said the man was standing at the corner near the church when a motor car approached, and men alighted from it and opened fire.

Detectives attached to the Major Investigation Division and the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay, St James, are probing an incident where two men were shot and killed in Canaan, Adelphi in St James, on Wednesday morning.

The police identified the deceased men as 30-year-old Andre Brown, o/c ‘Powerman,’ age 30, and Romaine Melville. Both men were reportedly from the Canaan district in St James.
According to reports, at about 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the men were sitting on a wooden bench in the vicinity of Canaan Square when two armed men ambushed them on a motorcycle and opened fire, hitting them multiple times.
One of the men died on the spot. And the police rushed the other man to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
The police are grappling with the possibility that the double murder might be connected to the shooting of a 13-year-old female male William Knob High School student earlier in the day.
Man with Toy Gun Shot and Killed by Beryllium Security Guard
According to the Morant Bay police, a Beryllium security guard shot and killed a man believed to be of unsound mind after he allegedly approached them with a toy gun on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in Morant Bay, St Thomas.
According to the commander of the St. Thomas Police, Superintendent Allison Byfield, the incident reportedly took place at about 2:00 pm, shortly after the team had serviced an automated banking machine.
After the shooting, the police rushed the man to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he died.
Jamaican man found dead on Mexican street.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the body of a man that the Mexican authorities found on a street in Mexico has been confirmed to be that of a Jamaican.
The authorities theorized that the man might have gone to Mexico to cross over into the United States illegally.
Confirmation of the man’s identity came this week from Mexican authorities, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith told journalists on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not released his name. However, Johnson Smith said Jamaican authorities are working with the family to help repatriate the body.
“These things are not a bed of roses. The stories that these scammers and smugglers sell to individuals in vulnerable communities shouldn’t be trusted.”

There has been a surge in Jamaicans shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars to make the dangerous trek to the US through countries like Mexico, Panama, and Belize.
In 2020, a total of 4,467 Jamaicans traveled to Mexico.
A year later, that number jumped by 68 percent to 7,509.
In the first three months of last year, 2,929 Jamaicans traveled to the North American country.
Johnson Smith said the Jamaican Government would not seek to close any port as part of the efforts to curb illegal migration.
