St Mary police arrested a man concerning the abduction and rape of a 7-y-o girl.

ST MARY, Jamaica – The St Mary police reported that they had arrested an 18-year-old St Mary man concerning the abduction and rape of a seven-year-old girl in the parish on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The child was reportedly abducted, sexually and physically abused, and then locked in an abandoned building.

According to the police, at about 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the child was on her way to school when somebody placed a bag over her head, and the person took he into nearby bushes and sexually assaulted her.

The abductor would then lock her in an abandoned building. The child managed to escape and went home.

Family members noticed her left eye was swollen and asked what had happened. They later took her to the Port Maria police station.

The police launched an investigation which led them to the alleged abductor’s home, where they found him hiding under a bed. The police would take him into custody.

The police later located the crime scene, where they recovered the child’s shoes, schoolbag, and underwear.

The police shot and injured a suspected robber on Olympic Way

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Police shot and injured a suspected robber near the Dupont Primary School on Olympic Way in Kingston on Thursday morning, May 11, 2023.

According to the police, two thugs attempted to rob a wholesale on Olympic Way, but a police officer nearby challenged them. The men allegedly opened fire at the law enforcement officer, who returned the fire, hitting one of the men. The other man escaped on foot.

The police recovered one firearm in the incident. The St Andrew South police are investigating.

St Catherine Motorist died in two-vehicle collision in St. Ann.

The St Ann police reported that a man died in a two-vehicle collision along the Priory main road in St. Ann on Thursday morning, May 11, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Anthony Findley, age 32, of Harkers Hall, St Catherine.

According to the police, Findlay, the sole occupant in a Toyota Isis motor car, was traveling along the Priory Main Road in St Ann.

He committed to overtaking another vehicle at the intersection of the Priory Main Road and the St. Ann Infirmary when he reportedly collided with a Toyota Axio motor car. 

Findley’s vehicle would have overturned and slammed into a wall at the infirmary.

Good Samaritans would have pulled Mr. Findlay from the wreckage and assisted him to St. Ann’s Bay Hospital, where he died.   

Armed thugs shot three women, one fatal in Clarendon. 

According to the police in Clarendon, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, armed thugs shot and killed a domestic worker and injured two other women at a shop in the District of Bottom Halse Hall in Clarendon.

The police identified the deceased woman as Taro Fullerton, o/c ‘Dal,’ age 37. 

According to reports, at about 5:10 pm, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the women were at the shop playing a game of bingo when a silver Toyota Axio motorcar drove up, and a man armed with a gun alighted.

The man shot the three women, one of whom was the shop operator, before escaping in the waiting car.

Fullerton received multiple bullet wounds to her upper body, while the other women received injuries to their hands and foot.

The police rushed Fullerton to the hospital, where she died.

Thugs gunned down a Mount Salem meat shop operator.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, gang-banging thugs snuffed out the life of a popular meat shop operator, Clive Lawson, age 45. 

According to reports, at about 4:45 pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Lawson, owner of Lawson’s Meat Mart along Mount Salem Main Road, was standing outside his shop when two men armed with handguns walked up to him and opened fire, killing him on the spot. 

The gunmen then ran from the scene and escaped in a waiting motor car. Residents summoned the police, and upon arrival, they processed the scene and removed Lawson’s body to the morgue for post-mortem.

Lawson’s murder came after thugs gunned down two men from Crawford Street on Monday, May 8, 2023. Residents told the news team that Lawson’s killing was a reprisal attack.

“This naw done suh, mi sure a that. Tomorrow morning mi a tek mi two pickneys dem and find some weh else go, because mi naw stay up yah an mek dem come kill mi,” a female resident told THE STAR. “All a wi a one. Mi know Clive like a mi bredda, and mi know the two youth dem who dem kill Monday like a mi son dem. What mi see a gwan nuh look good, and it not going to end suh, whether curfew, ZOSO or state a emergency.”

Residents said that Lawson was one of the best community members, kind, loving, always ready to help others, and like a brother and father to many youngsters.
