According to the St James police, they have arrested and charged a high school sixth-form student after he allegedly had sex sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female student at his home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The police charged the 19-year-old accused on May 11, 2023, with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old. 

Preliminary reports indicated that the child left home for school on Tuesday, May 11, 2023, but went to the accused home instead. Relatives got word of her whereabouts and informed the police.

The police then went to the accused home, where they found the child hiding under a bed wearing only her underwear. 

The police took the 14- year-old child and the accused into custody. And they subsequently charged the accused.

Canaan residents found man with slashed throat and severed left hand.

The Adelphi police in St James reported the brutal slaughter of a man in Canaan District, St James, on Thursday night, May 11, 2023.

The police identified the deceased as Trevaughn Stoddard, age 25, of a Smithfield address in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland. However, he was living in the Canaan district at the time of his death.

According to the law enforcement officers, at about 9 pm, Thursday, May 11, 2023, residents living in the Canaan community reportedly stumbled upon Stoddard’s body, lying at the side of a house with multiple chop wounds.

The residents summoned the police. And upon their

 arrival, the law enforcement officers found Stoddard lying on the ground with his throat cut and left arm severed.

The police processed the scene and removed the body to the morgue for post-mortem.

According to the police, Stoddard is the third person to get killed in the Canaan community since the start of the week. The murders left his body in the general vicinity, where two men from the community, 24-year-old Romaine Melville and 30-year-old Andre Brown, met their demise Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023.

Man killed during alleged confrontation with security forces in Trelawny.

 TRELAWNY, Jamaica: The police in Trelawny reported that they shot and killed a man at his home during an alleged confrontation with members of the security forces early Thursday morning, May 11, 2023.

The cops identified the deceased as Denoby Prichard, age 23, of Water Lane, Falmouth, in Trelawny.

According to law enforcement officers, at about 5:15 am, on May 11, 2023, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force led a police/military team to Prichard’s house to serve him a warrant.

And during the process, Prichard allegedly pointed a gun at the law enforcement officers who had entered the house. He was subsequently shot.

The police rushed Prichard to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

INDECOM is investigating the incident.

Two men were shot and injured as gang violence erupted in Mount Salem.

The St James police reported that gang-banging thugs shot and seriously wounded two men at the intersection of Cottage Road and Mount Salem Main Road Thursday night, May 11, 2023. The police believed the shooting was a reprisal attack for a deadly shooting in Mount Salem on Monday, May 8, 2023.

Both victims, a taxi operator, and a musician, have been admitted to hospital.

According to reports, at about 9 pm, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, the taxi operator was transporting passengers from downtown Montego Bay towards Mount Salem when armed men traveling in a station wagon motor car blocked their path.

The men alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on the taxi, hitting both men multiple times before speeding away from the scene.

The residents summoned the police. And upon arrival, the police assisted the wounded men to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where they were treated and admitted in serious condition.

Thursday’s incident followed the shooting deaths of three men from the area this week.
