ST THOMAS, Jamaica – The St Thomas police reported that three men died from injuries they sustained in a two-vehicle collision on the Albion Main Road in St Thomas on Tuesday evening, April 25, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as Maurice Hinds, Errol Taylor, and Mark Deliser, a security guard at Heartsease, Yallahs.
According to the Yallahs Police, one of the victims was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the deadly accident.
The police also revealed that the other driver, and another man, were in hospital undergoing emergency treatment.
In addition, the police stated that 11 people got injured in the accident, all of whom residents and the police assisted to the Kingston Public and the Princess Margaret Hospitals for treatment.
According to preliminary reports, one of the injured is an eighth-grade male student at Yallahs High School.
Early reports suggested that both vehicles traveled in opposite directions when one driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a Toyota Probox. The accident occurred at about 6:40 pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Both drivers used a section of the St Thomas leg of Southern Coastal Highway, which is not yet opened to the public.
Kingston man charged with murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
The police reported that they have arrested and charged Shane McKenzie, age 28, of Wildman Street, with the murder of Oneal West, o/c ‘Mad Max’, of Smith Lane.
In addition, the police also charged McKenzie with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the police, on March 28, 2023, at about 11:25 am, West was walking along the roadway on Smith Lane when Mr. McKenzie and another man approached him. The men and West had a brief conversation, then they allegedly shot and killed him.
The police were summoned to the scene. The police subsequently arrested McKenzie following an investigation on April 15, 2023. The police charged him on April 24, 2023.
Twenty-year-old Clarendon man pleads guilty to the murder of a fruit vendor.
On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 20-year-old Romeo Fullerton of a Clarendon address pleaded guilty to the shooting death of Keith McKintosh, age 27, a May Pen fruit vendor in February 2023.
The police had charged Fullerton with murder, unauthorized possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon, use of a prohibited weapon to commit a felony, and robbery with aggravation. The Court will sentence him in Clarendon Circuit Court on July 6, 2023.
The court has ordered a social inquiry on the condemned 20-year-old.
According to a court document, on February 14, 2023, McIntosh was selling fruits in May Pen when Fullerton and another man approached him. And after a brief conversation, Fullerton brandished a gun and shot McIntosh several times.
