KINGSTON, Jamaica – We are Fed-up! Residents of Hannah Town called on the Government to implement Special Zones of Operation (ZOSOs) in the Hannah Town community because they are fed up and tired of the senseless bloodletting.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, a small group carrying placards risked their lives and staged a protest at the intersection of on Slipe Pen Road and Hannah Street. The group said they are afraid to walk the street due to the heightening criminal activities in the community.
One concerned resident spoke to Observer Online:
“I’m afraid…because if I turn on that road, I don’t know what will happen to me. With the killings happening, anybody can die. Therefore, I cannot walk in peace. We need the police. We need the ZOSO. We need them. We cannot do it,” a resident told OBSERVER ONLINE.

In addition, she said it is high time the Government intervened in what she called a year-long nightmare.
“They need a strategy to know what they will do for us. We’re just a small community,” the resident pleaded.

Another resident stated that the situation is so bad, she is afraid to have her child live with her in the community
“My baby doesn’t live here. I cannot let my child live with me because of what’s going on,” the distraught resident said.
“This is such an unhealthy environment for the younger children. We are tired. The kids cannot grow up like this. This is unhealthy,” another added.

They are also demanding that a police station be established in the area.
