PORTLAND, Jamaica: On Saturday, April 8, 2023, the Portland police arrested and charged four persons, including a teen girl, with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, following the seizure of 9lbs of ganja along the Nut Hall Main Road in Portland.

The police charged the four accused with possessing ganja, dealing in ganja, and trafficking ganja. The police identified the accused as Jordon Brown, a 19-year-old construction worker; Gary Rodgers, a 44-year-old taxi operator; Nicola Wilson, a 39-year-old farmer of Burnt Savanna, all in St Elizabeth, and a 17-year-old girl from Lionel Town in Clarendon.
According to the Port Antonio police, they conducted a traffic checkpoint operation in the area. The driver of a Toyota Voxy minibus disobeyed an order to stop—the law enforcement officers gave chase. They later intercepted the vehicle along the Stony Hill main road. They conducted a vehicle search, finding and seizing the drugs.
The vehicle’s occupants were subsequently arrested and charged.
Their court date is pending.
St James police crack murder case after a months-long investigation.
ST JAMES, Jamaica – The St James police are taking a victory lap for solving an August 2022 case. They said exceptional investigative prowess and ballistic science helped them solve the murder.

According to the police, the murder occurred on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, between 2:00 am and 10:00 am in Bamboo Lawn, Lilliput, St James. Unknown assailants shot and killed Junior Williams o/c ‘Anthony.’
Citizens in the community reported hearing loud explosions at about 2:00 am, but the police did not find Williams’ body until about 10:00 am.
Detectives from the Barrett Town police station conducted the investigation. A post-mortem on the body confirmed that the victim died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
On Saturday, October 8, 2022, the police shot and killed three men and recovered three pistols during a joint police/military operation in the Hague community, Trelawny.
In December 2022, a ballistic report confirmed that one of the guns recovered during October 8, 2022, police/military operation was stolen from a licensed firearm holder and was used to kill Williams.
The police said, on April 3, 2023, an eyewitness positively identified Trevor Rhynie o/c ‘Tella’ or ‘Beanie’ as the trigger man in the Williams murder.
The police confirmed that Rhynie was one of the three men killed in Hague, Trelawny.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Constabulary Force urges licensed firearm holders to secure their weapons carefully.
