A man was struck by two vehicles along White Hall Main Road.

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, Sixty-five-year-old James Walters, o/c ‘Jim Brown,’ died a tragic death along the Whiter Hall main Road, Westmoreland, after getting mutilated by two cars. 

According to reports, at about 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 5, Walters was walking along the road when he was reportedly hit by a white motorcar overtaking another vehicle and then hit by a blue car.

The citizens summoned the police, and Walters’ mutilated body was seen lying on the roadway. The police processed the scene and transported the corpse to the morgue.

St. Elizabeth detectives are probing the circumstances surrounding the death. 

Meanwhile, the police are asking anyone with information about the accident to contact the Black River Police at 876-965-2232, the police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.

Police shot and killed taxi passenger during a confrontation with police on Maxfield Avenue.

 KINGSTON, Jamaica – On Wednesday night, April 5, 2023, the police shot and killed a taxi passenger during an a confrontation with the police at a checkpoint at the intersection of Maxfield and Balmoral Avenue. 

According to ACP Gary Mc Kenzie, at about 9:15 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, a police team acting on information set up a vehicle checkpoint at the intersection of Maxfield Avenue and Balmoral Avenue.

The police signaled a probox taxi to stop. And while they were a search of the vehicle, the deceased, who was a passenger in the vehicle, brandished a firearm and opened fire at the police. The police returned the fire, and the passenger was hit. The police recovered the firearm.

“What I’ve noted in the past is that persons have sought to take public passenger vehicles in a bid to transport firearms and other contraband. And as such, we are on to it that we carry out our enforcement responsibilities to keep Jamaica safe,” said ACP McKenzie.
