Woman allegedly embezzled J$150,000 from Kingston-based employer.

Once again, another Jamaican employer accused a female employee of stealing money from the establishment.

According to preliminary reports, Shanice Harriott, a customer service representative, allegedly embezzled approximately J$150,000 from a Kingston-based logistics company where she was an employee.

Details of the case were not available, but the accused appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew parish court before Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque on Thursday, February 23, 2023, who granted bail and ordered Shanice Harriott to surrender her travel documents and imposed a stop order and fingerprint.

Vincent Wellesley, Sr. attorney at law, represents her. She did not enter a plea. Her next court date is March 28, 2023.

The frequency of women dipping their hands in their employers’ kitty reflects Jamaican society. We have sunken so deep in moral decay that nobody has any shame or decency. We will do anything to ‘Eat-A-Food’ without regard for the negative impact our actions will have on our family and friends. We live in a Monkey-see, monkey-do society.

Our politicians have raided our coffers for years without any consequence. Some have even become multimillionaires overnight and have yet to own any establishment that sells goods or services. Jamaica needs a reset; we must hold dishonest people’s feet to the fire.
