Police charged a St. Catherine man with the fatal shooting of a Kingston businessman. The brazen shooting reportedly occurred along Pretoria Road on January 8, 2026.
The authorities have identified the accused as 37-year-old Theo Smith, who resides at Waltham Lane, New Land, Portmore, St. Catherine. Detectives have charged Smith with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
The victim, 49-year-old businessman Neville Litchmore, resided on Pretoria Road in Kingston, Jamaica.
According to police reports, at approximately 8:15 a.m. on January 8, Smith and an accomplice drove to Litchmore’s home in a silver Subaru. It is alleged that Smith exited the vehicle, approached Litchmore while he was standing in his yard, and opened fire, hitting him multiple times in the upper body before fleeing in the waiting vehicle.
Concerned citizens rushed Litchmore to the hospital, but it was too late. The authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
The police launched an investigation that led to Smith’s arrest on April 7. After a question-and-answer session, they charged him based on eyewitness accounts linking him to the shooting.
Smith’s court appearance date is pending.
Police charged two sisters after a stabbing in Spanish Town
Police charged two sisters with wounding with intent after a woman was stabbed during a dispute in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on March 28.
The accused are Sandrene Hayden, 28, and Sarah Byfield, 18, both residing on Adelaide Street in Rivoli.
According to police reports, on March 28, a dispute broke out between Byfield and another woman along Adelaide Street. The dispute quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
During the melee, Hayden reportedly intervened and allegedly used a knife to stab the woman in the upper body.
Following the incident, the sisters reportedly fled the scene. Friends assisted the injured woman to the hospital, where she received treatment.
The victim filed a criminal report with police, who subsequently arrested the two sisters. The police charged the women after witnesses positively identified them during an identification parade.
A court appearance date for the accused is pending.
