Jamaican Mechanic Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing
In Old Harbor, St. Catherine, Jamaica, the police charged a suspect after he allegedly fatally stabbed a mechanic on May 19, 2025.
The authorities identified the suspect as Lamar Miller, 21, a mechanic of New Harbor Village, Old Harbor, St Catherine.
Law enforcement charged Miller with the murder of 21-year-old Jerome James. He was a mechanic and a former resident of Waterford, St. Catherine address.
According to the Portmore police, Miller and James had a dispute that turned physical.
During the first fight, Miller allegedly used a knife. He inflicted multiple stab wounds to James’ upper body. Afterward, he escaped the area on foot.
The police responded, and upon arrival, they found James suffering from stab wounds.
Officers swiftly transported James to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
The police launched an investigation and arrested Miller during an operation. They later charged him on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
His court date is pending.

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, police officers in Eastern Kingston, Jamaica, charged a suspect with murder. He allegedly fatally shot a man one day after he struck the man in the head with a shovel.
The police identified the suspect as Anthony Barrett, o/c ‘Hilux’ and ‘Country,’ from Leith Hall in St. Thomas.
Besides murder, the police charged Barrett with possession of a prohibited weapon. They also charged him with unauthorized possession of ammunition. Additionally, he was charged with using a firearm to commit a felony.
The Elletson Road police stated that on Thursday, April 10, an argument developed between three people. One was a man known as Hutchinson. The others were Barrett and another man.
During the confrontation, Barrett allegedly used a shovel to strike Hutchinson. The strike inflicted a wound on Hutchinson. It required him to be hospitalized for treatment.
On May 11, hospital authorities discharged Hutchinson. Later that night, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Barrett went to Hutchinson’s house and reportedly shot him multiple times.
The police responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they transported Hutchinson to the hospital. Authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
Investigators launched an investigation and arrested Barrett on May 24, 2025. They formally charged him on May 29.
