Gang Violence and Crime in Jamaica: Recent Incidents. The West Kingston police have launched an investigation into the brutal slaying of a man. Allegedly, hoodlums gunned him down on Monday morning, April 14, 2025, in downtown Kingston.
Authorities identified the deceased as Marlon Anthony Dyer, o/c “Marlon Sniper,” 50, of an Upper Oxford Street, Kingston 14 location. Unknown assailants fatally wounded Dyer near the intersection of William Street and Upper West Street at approximately 11:50 a.m.
Dyer had served time in the US. Two masked gunmen ambushed him. This happened while he was standing at the intersection of William Street and Upper West Street.
Gang violence and crime in Jamaica. The gunmen reportedly opened fire, hitting him in the upper body before escaping along William Street.
Law enforcement responded and transported Dyer to the Kingston Public Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Investigators reported that Dyer was a senior member of the Upsetter Gang, based in the Hannah Town area. He was linked to several serious crimes, including the sexual assault of women in the community.
Law enforcement officials have implemented measures in the Hannah community. Their goal is to prevent further gang violence and crime in the community from rival gangs in the Kingston Western Police Division.
Engineer Charged After Gun Incident in Manchester
Police in Manchester, Jamaica, charged a suspect. He allegedly pulled his licensed firearm on a man during a dispute. This happened at Beach Club in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Authorities have identified the accused as Richard Elliot, 47, an engineer from a Mandeville, Manchester address.
The police charged Elliot with assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Whitehouse police stated that at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Elliot and the complainant got involved in a verbal altercation.
Gang violence and crime in Jamaica. During the back and forth, Elliot allegedly pushed the complainant. He then pulled his Glock pistol from his waistband. Elliot pointed the pistol at the complainant.
The complainant filed a report with the police, who launched an investigation.
On Monday, April 15, 2025, law enforcement arrested and charged Elliot after he surrendered to the police.
His court appearance date is pending.
JDF Soldier Arrested after illegal gun Seizure in St Elizabeth.
Cops in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, arrested a member of the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF). This occurred after the seizure of an illegal firearm.
According to reports, at about 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, a police team conducted an operation in the Breas River community.
Gang violence and crime in Jamaica. During the operation, law enforcement searched a Black Toyota Voxy motor vehicle belonging to the soldier. The officers reportedly found one Smith & Wesson Springfield 9mm pistol with a magazine containing one round of ammunition.
The police said the serial number of the firearm was partially erased.
Law enforcement seized the motor vehicle and arrested the driver. They have withheld the suspect’s name pending further investigation and formal charges.
