Licensed Firearm Holder Gunned Down in Kingston, Jamaica
Crimes and Criminal Activities Continue to Haunt Jamaica. Police in East Kingston are probing the murder of a licensed firearm holder on Thursday night along Antrim Road in Vineyard Town.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Alrick Sutton.
Crimes and criminal activities. Reports are that at about 7 p.m., Sutton went to a nearby supermarket to buy eggs. While he was walking back to his car, gunmen attacked and shot him.
He ran and collapsed along the roadway.
He was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Gleaner arrived at the scene. Onlookers were in shock. Some of them knew Sutton. They were praying for him to survive.
As of March 29, the Kingston Eastern police recorded five murders. This is a 71 percent decline compared to 17 percent for the corresponding period last year.
Crimes and criminal activities: drive-by shooting in St. James left one dead and eight injured
In St. James, Jamaica, one man is dead. Eight others are injured, two critically, after a drive-by shooting on Hart Street in Montego Bay. The shooting unfolded on Friday afternoon, April 4, 2025.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., men in a Toyota Axio arrived near a location where several individuals were gathered on the roadway. They exited the vehicle and started firing.
Crimes and criminal activities. The assailants were reportedly armed with high-powered rifles, and after the attack, nine individuals had been shot.
They were transported to the hospital, where one man has since succumbed to the injuries he sustained.
Acting Divisional Commander Superintendent Carlos Russell told Observer Online that the police are still processing the scene. Their investigations are ongoing.

Crimes and criminal activities. A twenty-year-old construction worker from Linstead, St. Catherine, known as ‘King’ (Kevin Young), faces charges. A 14-year-old male student from Kingston 13 was also charged. Both have been accused of robbery with aggravation and malicious destruction of property.
This follows an incident that occurred on the Hellshire main road in Portmore, St. Catherine, on Wednesday, April 2.
Reports show that around 1:00 PM, a man was operating his gray 2012 Toyota Probox as a taxi. Young and the teenager approached him. They then proceeded to rob him of his vehicle.
Crimes and criminal activities. During the incident, the assailants reportedly tore the victim’s shirt. They used it to bind his hands. Then they fled in the stolen car.
The police were alerted and managed to intercept the vehicle with both suspects aboard along Port Henderson Road.
The victim later identified his car. He pointed out the accused to the police. They were the individuals responsible for the robbery.
Young and the teenager were arrested and later charged. They are scheduled to be in court on Friday, April 11.
