Richard Evans: An Alleged Clansman Member, Killed by Police. On Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, police fatally shot a suspect. The individual was believed to be a high-ranking member of the Clansman gang. The tragic incident took place near Christiana in Manchester.

In response, the Police High Command has increased the threat levels for its members in St. Catherine and Manchester. Law enforcement officials have requested officers in those parishes to enhance their awareness and vigilance.

Law enforcement officials have identified the deceased as Richard Evans, also known as ‘Richie,’ 55, an auto body repairman from Clifton in Portmore, St. Catherine, who also frequented the Mollison district near Christiana.

The police reported that at approximately 5:15 a.m., a law enforcement team executed an intelligence-driven operation at Richard Evans’s residence in the Mollison district near Christiana, Manchester. This operation targeted alleged gang members, wanted individuals, drugs, firearms, and ammunition.

According to the police, the cops accosted Evans, and he opened fire at the police.

The police reportedly took evasive and returned fire, injuring Evans.

Law enforcement transported the injured man to the hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations and the Police High Command are investigating the deadly shooting.

Assistant Commissioner Calvin Allen, the Commanding Officer of Area 3 police, urged the public to remain calm. He asked them not to confront officers when they were approached.

Allen indicated that Evans chose to confront law enforcement, unlike other suspects in St. Elizabeth and Clarendon. The officers responded as trained.

ACP Allen said the police recovered a Glock 40 pistol from Evans.

Residents of Mollison reported that Richard Evans had been questioned by the police multiple times, but he was not known to be involved in any criminal activity.

One resident wondered if Evans was a gangster. They noted that Evans has lived in the community for 13 years, arriving with one child and now having three.

Another resident said they did not know Evans’ past but knew he was trying to become a good gentleman.

One woman said, “We need to know what’s going on because our community is good, clean, and non-violent.”
