Dr. Kevin Blake demands compassion and excellence from cops. Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake has instructed members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to recommit to policing with integrity. They should also do so with compassion and excellence.
He noted that in 2024, resilience and unity, underpinned by faith, enabled the JCF to rise above obstacles.
“We faced challenges but remained steadfast, guided by our shared commitment to serve, protect, and reassure. Let us continue to build on the achievements of the past year to transform our present. This transformation we seek should be reflected in improved operations, stronger community relationships, and both personal and professional growth. Let us strive for continuous improvement,” Blake said.
Dr. Kevin Blake spoke during the annual Commissioner’s Devotional Exercise on Thursday. The event was held at the Office of the Commissioner of Police in Kingston.
He highlighted the national crime statistics for 2024, which show a 19 percent reduction in murders. Murders decreased by 265 to 1,139 compared to 2023.
Dr. Kevin Blake credited the reduction in murders to the hard work and dedication of JCF members. He advised them to move ahead with pride and motivation.
Further, Blake encouraged the members to secure the future by committing to excellence in service.
“Let every report, case, and interaction with the public involve the highest standards of professionalism and care. Remember that our actions today plant the seeds of tomorrow’s peace.
Dr. Kevin Blake urges JCF members to serve with integrity, compassion, and excellence
My final charge to you, colleagues, is for us to walk in faith. We must also walk in unity. Let us uphold our promises to the Jamaican people. It is this unity and faith that will guide us through the challenges and inspire us to serve with excellence.

We must partner with the people and reassure them. We must show them that the JCF is a force for good. It is an organization of hope, strength, and transformation.
“In 2025, we should aim to meet and exceed expectations guided by faith, courage, and love principles. With God as our guide, we will confront the forces that seek to harm our communities. We will overcome these forces and transform the communities into spaces of peace and prosperity,” Dr. Kevin Blake added.
This year’s devotional exercise was held under the theme ‘Transforming the Present, Securing the Future’.
The event saw members of the JCF kick off the year with inspiration, reflection, and renewed dedication to service.
