Fatal Stabbing of eleven-Year-Old Sparks Community Outcry. Kingston Western Police reported the fatal stabbing of an eleven-year-old by a fourteen-year-old girl. The tragic act of teen violence reportedly unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Kingston during an altercation.
The authorities identified the boy as Omar Collie, o/c Amari, a first-form Denham Town High School student.
Head of Kingston Western Police Division, Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, confirmed the fatal stabbing with the media. He told Radio Jamaica News that the fatal stabbing occurred at about 3:20 p.m. during an altercation along West Queen Street.
The Kingston Western police reported that the Beat Officer Patrol Division personnel were on patrol in the community. They saw a group gathered at the intersection of West Street and West Queen Street and went to investigate.
Eyewitnesses reportedly told the officers that Amari was arguing with the suspect, and he allegedly punched her in the head.
Acting on impulse, the child reportedly spun around and used a plastic comb with a metal end that she was using to comb her hair to fatally stab Amari in the chest repeatedly.
Officials at the Kingston Public Hospital pronounced the boy dead on arrival.
SSP Phipps said the young girl, whose name the police withheld, is in custody at a juvenile correctional center.
The police continue their effort to establish exactly what led to the deadly altercation.
Man fatally shot in Morant Bay, St Thomas
Detectives in St Thomas are probing the fatal shooting of a man in Morant Bay, St Thomas, on Tuesday night.
Dead is Rojhae Gayle, 31, from Friendship Lane in Morant Bay.

According to reports, at about 11:15 p.m., residents heard explosions in the Springfield, Bamboo Lane, community
and summoned the police.
Upon arrival, officers found Gayle suffering from gunshot wounds. They assisted him to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
Law enforcement has yet to prove a motive for the fatal shooting.
The Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
Murder of Portmore Businessman: Community in Shock
Police responded to Braeton, Portmore, on Tuesday afternoon following the fatal shooting of a businessman.
Dead is Joseph Lewis, 62, of Greater Portmore, St Catherine.

According to police from the St Catherine South Division, the perpetrator attacked Lewis at about 2:30 p.m.
Good Samaritans swiftly rushed him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement officers have launched a search for the person (s) responsible for the senseless killing.
The police have yet to prove a motive for Lewis’ tragic death, which left the community in shock and awe.
One resident said Lewis was known for contributing to the local business scene.
Police officials urged anyone with information on the shooting to come forward and assist with the investigation.
