Cocaine and Guns Seizure: On Friday, police officers successfully executed two separate operations, effectively targeting an alleged gun and drug smuggling network in Portmore, St Catherine.
According to reports, at about 5:00 am, police officers from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC) Special Operations team raided an apartment building at Cedar Boulevard.
The primary focus of the operation was to capture a 35-year-old man the police believed was at the center of the illicit operation.
Upon arrival, the police found a female occupant.
During a meticulous search of the apartment, officers discovered a DB9 Diamond Back 9mm pistol with an erased serial number. The loaded gun was found on a bedside table, containing six 9mm rounds.
As part of their comprehensive strategy, C-TOC officers also targeted a second property in the community of Garveymeade. This property was believed to be a secondary location linked to the primary target, demonstrating the police’s thorough approach to the investigation.
According to the police, they reportedly found two boxes containing 100 9mm cartridges. Plus, two parcels of white powdery substances resembling cocaine weighing approximately four kilograms.
Law enforcement arrested three men found at the property in connection with the investigation.
The police, committed to a thorough investigation, have withheld the names of the suspects pending further charges.
Mass Shooting Suspect Linked to Prison Escapee
Law enforcement officials have listed an escapee as a primary suspect in Monday’s mass shooting in Pleasant Heights, Rockfort, in East Kingston.
They identified the suspect as Junior Creary, o/c ‘Whoppa,’ 28, a construction worker from Carnarvon Street, Kingston.
Investigators urged Creary to surrender himself at the nearest police station for questioning.
Reportedly, Creary was one of three prisoners who escaped from the Port Royal Police Station on August 30, 2021.
Another alleged suspect in the Rockfort mass shooting was cut down by the police during an operation on Tuesday.
Gunmen killed five people and injured two others when they opened fire on patrons attending a football match in Pleasant Heights, Rockfort.
Police asserted that two of the deceased in the Rockfort mass shooting were so-called “area leaders.”
On Friday, the Government defied the Constitution. It declared a State of Public Emergency in Rockfort and other areas within the Kingston East Division. According to the Government, the S.O.E. is necessary to suppress potential reprisals.
A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister said thorough assessments by the security forces indicated that elevated levels of violent criminal activity within the designated areas are of such severity and scale that they pose a significant threat to public safety.
