Attempted Robbery at a Mancherster Bar Left One Person Dead.

Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

Attempted Robbery: Two people were shot, one fatally, during an attempted robbery at a bar in Manchester Thursday night. The authorities said the ill-fated occurrence unfolded in the Inverness district in the troubled Knockpatrick community.

Police and relatives reportedly identified the deceased as Rushaine Wiltshire, 30, a resident of Inverness.

Police said that at about 9:00 pm, Thursday, the couple was at the bar when two armed masked men entered.

The gunmen reportedly accosted Wiltshire, and he ran to a back room on the premises. The gunmen chased Wiltshire to the back room, where his girlfriend, who operated the bar, was, and demanded money.

When the couple did not meet the gunmen’s demands, they opened fire on the couple, hitting them.

Reportedly, Wiltshire collapsed and died at the scene. His partner sustained gunshot wounds in her abdomen.

The gunmen then turned their weapons on a Toyota Probox taxi that drove by the bar.

Fortunately, the taxi operator escaped injuries as bullets went through the windshield and a window of the car.

The taxi driver transported the injured woman to the hospital, where she was rushed into emergency surgery.

ST JAMES, Jamaica:— Police arrested one of St. James’ most wanted men on Friday. The authorities said the suspect was featured on the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesday campaign.

They identified the suspect as Liko Maxwell, o/c ‘Niko’ from Flamstead Garden in St. James.

Media reports indicated that law enforcement captured Maxwell during an operation in Garland district, Montego Bay, early Friday morning.

Reportedly, at about 3:30 am, law enforcement conducted an operation at the targeted premises in Garland district.

During a search of one of the bedrooms, the officers arrested Maxwell after recovering one Girsan Rigard pistol fitted with a magazine containing seventeen 9mm rounds. Officers also took one female occupant into custody.

Commenting on the arrest, the Commanding officer for the St James Division, Superintendent Eron Samuels, urged residents to cooperate with the police. He implored them to share information to help restore law and order in the community.

“We are asking the citizens of St James to just tell us what they know and pass on the information. We want to make sure that you can have a crime-free or low-crime Christmas,” he said.
