HANOVER, Jamaica — In a significant development, Hanover’s most wanted individual, 24-year-old Towayne Gunning, also known as ‘Tuffy,’ has surrendered to law enforcement in the presence of his attorney.
Authorities report that Gunning, a laborer from Rock Spring in St James, has been evading capture since December 2023, following his alleged involvement in a murder incident in Green Island.
On April 2, 2024, Gunning was reportedly involved in a gunfight with police. Eyewitnesses have since identified him in various gun-related offenses committed in Hanover.
Commenting on the apprehension, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Wayne Joseph, who oversees the Criminal Investigations Branch, praised the detectives in Area One for their exemplary investigative efforts, which he believes have been instrumental in these recent developments.
“An increasing number of individuals are surrendering to law enforcement, motivated by the compelling cases presented against them. This reflects the caliber of investigative work conducted on the ground, along with the effective outreach from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN), which has heightened awareness about ongoing investigations,” stated the Acting ACP.
The police have achieved noteworthy success in recent weeks, capturing several wanted suspects across Area One. Among these is Joseph McKenzie, known as ‘Jayo,’ arrested in St James on August 25, 2024, and facing charges of three murders, one shooting, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Additionally, Michael Williams, referred to as ‘Dry Goods,’ was taken into custody in Bogue, St James, on September 14, 2024, and is also confronting murder charges.
Suspect Charged After Shootout with Police in Kingston.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police have charged a suspect who has been on the run since February 2023 in connection with an alleged shooting incident involving law enforcement on Nelson Road in St. Andrew.

The individual charged is 30-year-old Omar Logan, also known as ‘Jems,’ residing on Pretoria Road in Kingston 13.
Logan faces multiple charges, including four counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Hunts Bay Criminal Investigations Branch, at approximately 2:50 p.m., police officers were passing along Nelson Road when they observed Logan standing by the roadway.
Upon noticing the police, Logan reportedly fled into a nearby premises, allegedly returning armed with a firearm and opening fire on the officers.
The police responded by returning fire, prompting Logan to flee the scene.
After an extensive investigation, law enforcement successfully apprehended Logan on Wednesday, July 24, and he was later charged on Monday, September 16.
Suspect Charged For Vehicle Theft In St Elizabeth After In Westmoreland.
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — On Wednesday, September 2, the Westmoreland police apprehended a suspect in connection with a motor vehicle theft that occurred in St Elizabeth.
The individual charged is 32-year-old Romel Johnson, also known as ‘Tall Man’, residing in the Leeds district of Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth.

Reports from the police stated that at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, the complainant securely parked and locked his Toyota Voxy vehicle in his yard before retiring for the night.
Upon awakening around 7:00 a.m. the nextday, the complainant discovered that the vehicle was missing.
Later, the complainant reported the incident to law enforcement, who utilized technological resources to intercept the stolen vehicle in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth. But, Johnson managed to evade capture at that time.
On Monday, September 2, law enforcement personnel in Westmoreland successfully apprehended Johnson during a targeted operation.
After his capture, the Westmoreland Police Department transferred Johnson to the Santa Cruz police in St Elizabeth.
The police formally charged him in the presence of his attorney after conducting a question-and-answer session.
Johnson’s court date is pending.
