Police Officers Killed in Tragic Clarendon Road Accident.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) plunged into mourning after the tragic deaths Sunday evening of two police officers in a motor vehicle accident in Clarendon.

Authorities say the unfortunate accident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. while the officers were pursuing suspects seen along the York Town Main Road.

Two other police officers sustained life-threatening injuries in the fatal crash.

According to the police, the four officers were on their way to an assignment involving three suspects on a motorcycle along the York Town Main Road.

Upon reaching a section of York Town Main Road, the service vehicle skidded, and the driver lost control. Then, the car rolled over into a ditch.

Cons Shawn Atkins and Jessica West died when a service vehicle overturned.

Colleagues from the Area 3 division responded and transported the injured officers to May Pen Hospital, where the officials pronounced Constables Jessica West and Shawn Atkins dead.

The injured personnel remain in the hospital in serious but stable condition.

In a statement released late Sunday, the Police High Command expressed sadness about the tragedy.

Further, the release stated that the authorities are offering support to the victims’ families, colleagues, and friends.

So far in 2024, there have been 265 deaths on the nation’s roads, with 18 recorded to date in September.

ST JAMES, Jamaica: A man known as ‘Dry Goods’ has been arrested and charged by the police after allegedly shooting and killing Wesley Robinson, 35, in Ramble on August 11.

The individual, identified as Michael Williams, 25, from New Ramble in Bogue, St James, faces charges of murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

According to the Montego Bay police, residents alerted the authorities after hearing gunshots between 2:20 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on August 11. Subsequently, Robinson was found by law enforcement lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following the collection of eyewitness statements, the police obtained a warrant for Williams’ arrest and successfully apprehended him during an operation in the Bogue community on Saturday, September 14. He was formally charged later that day.

The court date for this case is pending.
