Manchester Men Indicted for $2.5 Million Poker Box and Liquor Theft.

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica: Police indicted two suspects accused of breaking into a bar in Bull Savannah on August 10, 2024, and stealing five poker machines.

The authorities identified the accused as Corey Simpson, o/c ‘Crazy Teeth,’ 28, of Perth Road, Mandeville, Manchester, and Ryan Parker, 36, a construction worker from Mandeville, Manchester.

The men face charges of housebreaking and larceny.

The indictment alleges that at about 6:00 p.m., on August 10, a businessman securely locked his bar and left.

Upon his return, he discovered that the padlock to the back of the building was missing. Further checks revealed that somebody had broken into the building and ransacked the bar.

After taking an inventory, the businessman found Five poker boxes valued at $2.5 million and assorted liquor valued at $20,000 were missing.

He filed a report with the police, who launched an investigation.

During the investigation, the police reviewed security camera footage that placed the accused at the crime scene.

Later, the authorities arrested and formally charged the suspects. Their court appearance date is pending.

ST ANN, Jamaica: The police said investigations are underway into the shooting of two men, one fatally, in Ocho Rios on Monday night.

The deceased is Shane Mattadeen, of Norbrook Acres Drive and Mahogany Beach in Ocho Rios.

The authorities identified the injured man as a 26-year-old unemployed individual from Old Harbor, St Catherine.

According to reports, at about 10:00 p.m. on September 2, 2024, residents near the Mahogany Beach community heard explosions.

The police responded and found Mattadeen and another man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The officers transported the men to the hospital, where officials pronounced Mattadeen dead on arrival and admitted the injured man.

The police are yet to prove a motive for the shooting.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica: Head of the Trelawny PD, Deputy Superintendent Winston Milton, confirmed the fatal shooting of an unidentified woman.

The police said the tragic incident occurred along Duke Street, Falmouth, early Tuesday Morning.

Residents reportedly heard explosions and summoned the police.

Upon arrival, the police reportedly found the body of a female in a pool of blood with multiple gunshots wounds.

There are unconfirmed reports that the unidentified woman is likely a sex worker. The police said Duke Street is known for sex worker activity.

Even so, the police are yet to prove a motive for the shooting.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica: Police indicted a St Catherine woman with manslaughter in connection with the death of a four-year-old child.

The authority named the accused Lurline Naylor, 63, a retiree of Innswood Parkway, Innswood Village, St Catherine, 

The deceased child is Jordane Clarke, age 4, a late student of Destowe Bennette Basic School.

The indictment alleged that on February 24, 2022, Naylor transported Clarke and other children to school. She exited the vehicle with the children, leaving Clarke inside.

Naylor returned to the vehicle at about 3:00 p.m., where she discovered the unresponsive child.

She rushed the child to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.

After two years, the police formally charged the accused after a question-and-answer session on Monday,

September 2.
