Jamaican National Fined BB$15,000 for Firearm Possession in Barbados.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – The High Court in Barbados has imposed a fine of BB$15,000 on Jamaican national, Onickey Orain Reid, after his apology for being found in possession of a firearm.

Failure to settle the fine will result in a 645-day prison term, encompassing the rest of an eight-year sentence.

Justice Pamela Beckles, in delivering the verdict, informed Reid that “Upon payment of the fine or completion of the sentence, you will be handed over to the Immigration Department for appropriate action.”

On April 29, 2022, Reid admitted guilt to unlawful possession of a 5.56mm rifle.

The firearm was uncovered in the car’s trunk, which Reid and another individual were occupying.
