Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

According to media reports, around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, an alleged reputed gang leader for sections of Mountain View Avenue in the Kingston Eastern Police Division was fatally shot by unidentified assailants at the intersection of Mountain View Avenue and Windward Road.

The deceased, identified by the police as Kemar Williams, alias ‘Dangles,’ was driving a Mercedes Benz along Windward Road when two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle. The pillion rider reportedly wielded a firearm and fired multiple shots at ‘Dangles,’ causing the vehicle to crash in front of a plaza.

Despite efforts by residents to transport the injured man to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries upon arrival.

In response to the incident, the Kingston Eastern Police are maintaining heightened vigilance in the community to prevent potential retaliatory actions.

60-Year-Old Man Succumbs to Gunshot Wound to the Head in Frazer’s Content.

Another life was tragically lost to gun violence in the Frazer’s Content community of St Catherine. Michael Steadman, a 60-year-old unemployed resident of Frazer’s Boulevard, Spanish Town, fell victim to the senseless act.

On the evening of Monday, June 10, 2024, gunshots rang through the community, leading to the discovery of Steadman, fatally wounded on the roadside. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the Spanish Town Hospital.

This incident marks the second fatal shooting in the community within two days, leaving the authorities grappling for answers.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigations Branch is actively working on unraveling this tragic event, as the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The community mourns yet another loss to the devastating impact of gun violence.

Three suspects have been charged by the St Catherine Police for violations of the Firearm Act after a firearm was discovered in the vehicle they were traveling in along Brunswick Avenue in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

The accused individuals have been identified as DeAndre Blake, also known as ‘Diddy,’ aged 23, a taxi operator from Omara Crescent in Kingston; Juwayne ‘Twin’ Ramsey, 20 years old, from Waterford in St Catherine; and 24-year-old security officer Taj-Jaye Brown from Mews district, Guy’s Hill in St Catherine.

The police have pressed charges against the three men for possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

As reported by the Spanish Town police, a police team on mobile patrol intercepted a grey Toyota Fielder motor car along the roadway at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Following a search of the vehicle, a .38 pistol loaded with four .38 cartridges and one spent casing was discovered between the front passenger seat and the cup holder.

The individuals were taken into custody by the police and subsequently indicted after a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of their legal counsel.

The date for their court appearance is yet to be determined.

A 29-year-old man, Ranoy English, also known as ‘Gaza Man’ of Waterloo district in Ewarton, has been charged by the police for robbery and gun possession stemming from an incident in Ewarton, St Catherine on April 29th.

On Monday, June 10, 2024, he was charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

The Ewarton police reported that at around 11:15 p.m. on April 29th, the complainant was standing along the roadway when English allegedly attacked him, wielding a gun, and robbed him of personal belongings before fleeing.

Following the report filed by the complainant, the Ewarton police initiated an investigation that resulted in the arrest and charging of English.

His court date is currently pending.
