Two men lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a tragic shooting incident at a bar in the Dover district of St Mary on Friday night.
The victims were identified as Damion Melvin, 40, of Windsor Castle, Portland, and Leroy Morand, 34, from Dover, St Mary. According to the Annotto Bay Police, the unfortunate event occurred around 7:10 p.m. when Melvin and Morand, along with two others, were in conversation outside a local bar. Suddenly, two armed individuals approached and opened fire, causing serious harm to the group before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the incident and discovered the victims with gunshot wounds. Tragically, despite their efforts, Melvin and Morand succumbed to their injuries. One individual was admitted to the hospital for treatment, while the fourth victim was treated and released.

Suspectshot dead in alleged confrontation with security forces in Clarendon.
On Friday, June 7, 2024, law enforcement authorities neutralized a suspect during a confrontation in the Beckford Kraal district in northern Clarendon. The deceased, identified as Dockerel Miller, also known as ‘Killer,’ was 32 years old and from Sweeney Top district, Clarendon.

The tragic incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. during a joint police and military operation. Miller reportedly opened fire at the team when they attempted to apprehend him. In response, the officers took evasive action and returned fire, resulting in Miller being struck.
Miller was swiftly transported to the hospital by the team, where he was pronounced deceased. It was reported that one pistol and ten rounds of ammunition were recovered from Miller’s possession.
The Independent Commission of Investigations is currently conducting an inquiry into the matter.

On the morning of Saturday, June 8, 2024, at approximately 6:00 a.m., a tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of Main Street and Caledonia Road in Mandeville, Manchester. A woman lost her life, and a man sustained injuries in a drive-by shooting.

Upon receiving the distressing report, law enforcement swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified woman on the premises of a gas station. It was noted that she was dressed in short black tights and a green blouse, with local residents indicating that she worked as a dancer at a nearby establishment.
The injured man was promptly transported to the hospital, having suffered injuries to both arms. Reports detailed that the two individuals were targeted by assailants who opened fire from a passing vehicle as they were walking.
Furthermore, unverified accounts suggested that the injured man had previously been involved in a shooting incident in Greenvale during August 2023, where three individuals, including him, had been shot. Regrettably, one person had succumbed to their injuries in that earlier confrontation.
St Ann videographer iaccused of raping a teen he met on Instagram.
The St Ann police indicted a videographer for sexual assault and abduction after he allegedly assaulted a teenager he met on Instagram.
The police identified the accused as Shane Thomas, 26, from the Philadelphia community in Brown’s Town, St Ann.
The Brown’s Town police reported that the complainant and Thomas had communicated on Instagram since May 15, 2024, and had made arrangements to meet.
At about 1 p.m. on June 4, 2024, Thomas met the complainant in Brown’s Town.
During the meet-up, Thomas allegedly forced the teen to a bridge and had sex with her against her will.
The police launched an investigation after the complainant filed a report.
The police arrested and charged Thomas after the complainant pointed him out to the cops.
Thomas’ court appearance date is pending.
