The Falkland community in Boundbrook, Portland, is grieving the tragic loss of a resident who was fatally shot by assailants in a drive-by incident on Thursday afternoon, May 23. The victim was identified by authorities only as ‘Bertie’ from Boundbrook.
Reports indicate that around 5:45 p.m., Bertie was near a bar when a silver Toyota Corolla Axio stopped beside him.
Shortly after, an eruption of gunfire was heard, and the vehicle was seen speeding away.
Bertie was subsequently found on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Police quickly transported him to the hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined, and the investigation continues.
This incident raises Portland’s homicide count to six for the year 2024.
Taxi operator accused of killing and burying St Catherine security guard
A taxi operator in St Catherine has been charged by the police after allegedly committing the grave act of murdering a security guard and then burying the body in a shallow grave within the Frazer Content community. These disturbing events are reported to have occurred between May 1 and May 8, 2024.

The police identified the accused as Paul Drummond, o/c ‘Chris,’ age 35, from Frazer Content, St Catherine.
The police charged Drummond on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, with murder, misprision of a felony (which is failure to report a crime), accessory after the fact, and unlawful burial of a dead body.
The authorities identified the deceased as 33-year-old Kevon Anderson from Frazer’s Content in St Catherine.
According to the police, Anderson was last seen alive about 8 p.m. on May 1 in his community. But he never returned home, and relatives later filed a missing person report.
The police initiated an investigation, and they found Anderson’s body in a shallow grave on May 9, 2024.
The police later arrested Drummond and subsequently charged him.
His court appearance date is pending.
Manhunt for Suspect Who Allegedly Abducted and Sexually Assaulted Tourist in St. Ann.
The St. Ann police are currently conducting a search for a suspect who is accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a visitor to the island on May 13, 2024.
According to the police, an unknown suspect allegedly abducted and raped the 24-year-old German student in Upton, Ocho Rios, St. Ann, on May 13, 2024.
The police said the suspect also robbed the woman of cash and other personal items.
According to the police, the suspect reportedly goes by the aliases ‘Lenny’ or ‘Blacks.’
He is said to have a wrinkled face and arms, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and looks about 50 to 55 years old.
He wore a T-shirt and short jeans and was armed with a machete.

Teacher Accused of Vandalizing Car During Dispute with Child’s Father.
In St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, a teacher has been taken into custody and charged with the alleged destruction of a vehicle’s rear windshield during a domestic altercation.
Felika Hunter, also known as ‘Fel,’ a 30-year-old teacher from the Luana district in St. Elizabeth, was charged by the police with malicious destruction of property.
According to the police, on May 19, 2024, an argument broke out between Hunter and the father of her child at her residence.
Hunter is accused of using an object to shatter the rear windshield of the man’s Toyota Isis during the dispute.
Following a report by the complainant, the police conducted an investigation, which led to Hunter’s arrest and charge.
Hunter is reported to be detained pending her court appearance on Friday, May 24, 2024.
