Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

Nine individuals were reportedly shot, with one fatality, as a gunman opened fire on patrons at a bar and lounge along Shortwood Road in St. Andrew on Tuesday night, May 21, 2024.

Tragically, a woman succumbed to her injuries in the attack.

According to accounts, around 11:30 p.m., the assailant entered the establishment and began firing upon the patrons.

Following the cessation of the shooting, nine individuals, including four women, sustained gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement responded promptly, and the victims were swiftly transported to a medical facility.

At present, authorities have not determined the motive for the shooting.

The St. Andrew North police force is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

HANOVER, Jamaica – An investigation has been launched by the Lucea police department in Hanover following the discovery of a man’s body at his residence with multiple gunshot wounds. The deceased, identified as Bruce Allen, also known as ‘Bigs,’ 45, of Kew Top, Lucea, in Hanover, was found by a resident on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024.

Community reports indicate that on Sunday, May 19, 2024, explosions were heard near Allen’s home around 9:15 p.m., yet no action was taken at the time. It wasn’t until Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024, that the tragic discovery was made, prompting the resident to alert the authorities.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time, and the police are actively pursuing the investigation.

Tragic Incident in St Ann, Jamaica

The police in St Ann are currently investigating a suspected case of suicide involving 12-year-old Aaron Richards, a student of Marcus Garvey Technical High School. The distressing event took place at the boy’s residence in Forte George district, Claremont, St Ann, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Authorities reported that the tragic incident occurred when relatives discovered Aaron hanging from a balcony around 4:09 p.m. Police promptly responded, and the body was removed to the morgue.
