A heartbreaking tragedy occurred on Friday night, claiming the lives of three individuals from Westmoreland in a devastating motor vehicle collision along Bay Road in Little London.
Among the victims were Alwyne Savariau, 48, a welder from Friendship, his daughter Shanique, a 14-year-old student at Godfrey Stewart High in the Strawberry district, and Owen Barnes, 43, a manager from Good Hope.
According to the authorities, the collision involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a Toyota Corolla, occurring around 9:40 p.m. as they traveled opposite directions along Bay Road. Despite the efforts of good samaritans and the police, the drivers of both vehicles, along with young Shanique, tragically lost their lives.
Six other individuals from the bus were fortunate to survive, receiving treatment at the hospital for minor injuries. Inspector Coya Williams, acting commander for the Negril and Little London police area, highlighted that, unfortunately, the bus, on its way to Negril, failed to keep left after negotiating a corner, leading to the collision with the car heading towards Savanna-la-Mar.
The devastating loss has left the community in mourning, and the police are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident. This heartbreaking incident adds to the sobering statistics provided by the Road Safety Unit, with 151 individuals losing their lives in 129 crashes since the beginning of the year. ST ANDREW, Jamaica—Tragedy struck in the early hours of Saturday, May 11, 2024, as a group of assailants fatally shot 34-year-old electrician Joudon Hutchinson after invading his home at Hope Hill, in 8 Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew.

The authorities confirmed that Hutchinson was attacked inside his residence at approximately 1:30 a.m. The perpetrators then proceeded to take him outside, where they carried out the fatal act.
During the investigation of the scene, officials recovered two 5.56 spent casings. As of now, the police have yet to ascertain a motive for the shooting.

The authorities in Ocho Rios, St Ann, are currently investigating the tragic murder of 19-year-old music producer Malaki James, who resided in the Great Pond district. James was viciously attacked at his residence around noon on Friday, with another individual present narrowly escaping harm. Reports indicate that the assailant was disguised with a mask, and as of now, the motive behind the assault remains unknown.

Authorities in St. Ann are currently investigating the shooting incident involving a 44-year-old bar operator in the district of Tydixon Friday night, May 10, 2024. The victim is presently receiving medical care for gunshot wounds to her upper body after the incident, which took place around 8 p.m. at her place of business.
The businesswoman was discovered in nearby bushes after hearing the sound of explosions. The Moneague police were promptly notified, and she was swiftly transported to St. Ann’s Bay Hospital for treatment.
As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unknown.
