Two people escape unscathed after a gun and arson attack in Stony Hill.

Two individuals narrowly avoided serious harm when assailants carried out a gun assault at a residence on Airy Castle Road in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, on the morning of Thursday, May 9, 2024.

As per a law enforcement official, the intruders entered the premises, fired at the occupants, and subsequently set the property ablaze.

Superintendent Sherika Service, Commanding Officer for the St. Andrew North Police Division, recounted that the distressing incident transpired around 1:30 a.m.

“According to information we have received, a complainant reported being awakened by a loud banging on his front door while he and a companion were at home in Airy Castle. Upon investigation, he discovered two individuals clad in black and another wearing an orange sweater, discharging multiple gunshots at his door.”

Superintendent Service explained that the man managed to flee through the back door and escaped, only to later realize that his residence was engulfed in flames.

She indicated that the authorities suspected the arson and gun assault to be a retaliatory response to a homicide that took place on Wednesday in Rocky Valley, Stony Hill, St. Andrew.

The police have initiated an investigation.

On Tuesday night, May 7, 2024, an attack at a shop in Bobman Hill, Lilliput, St. James, resulted in five individuals being shot, with one fatality.

The deceased man, identified as Tevin Scott, also known as ‘Prince,’ was a construction worker from Bunkers Hill, Trelawny.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when Scott was among patrons at a community shop in Bobman Hill. A group of armed men arrived in a motor car and opened fire, resulting in Scott and four others sustaining gunshot wounds.

Members of the community transported the injured individuals to the hospital, where Scott was pronounced dead, and the others received medical treatment.

Twenty-three spent casings were recovered at the crime scene, leading investigators to theorize that Scott was the intended target of the attack.

Additional reports indicate that Scott and his family had to relocate to Trelawny in February after their home was set on fire by armed men. Furthermore, the Trelawny police sought him for questioning concerning a case of wounding with intent.

The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing.

Two men tragically lost their lives when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a trailer truck on the Cave main road in Westmoreland on Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2024.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims.

The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. as the truck traveled from Savanna-la-Mar to Whitehouse.

A report from The Gleaner mentioned that at the accident scene, one victim was found beneath the truck while the other was behind it.

The police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

The lifeless body of a 10-year-old boy was tragically found in a pond on Holland Estate in Trelawny on Thursday. The young boy, Alcayde Palmer of Zion in Martha Brae, Trelawny, was a grade five student at Granville Primary School.

According to a statement from an investigating officer with the Trelawny police, Palmer was reported missing at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The authorities promptly initiated a search, during which Palmer’s body was discovered in the pond around 10 a.m.

The community is deeply saddened by this heartbreaking event, and the authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s passing.
