A Manchester Businessman Shoots An Alleged Prowler in Spaulding.

MANCHESTER, Jamaica – In the early hours of Tuesday, April 2, 2024, a Manchester businessman utilized his licensed firearm to wound a suspected intruder in Spaulding, Manchester.

Law enforcement reports indicate that around 2:00 a.m., the businessman reacted to signs of a break-in at his establishment by discharging his firearm in the direction of the perceived threat, resulting in the injury of the intruder.

The injured individual, a 39-year-old laborer from the Cobbla district in Manchester, was subsequently admitted to the hospital.

The police have chosen to withhold the name of the suspect pending further investigation.

ST ANN, Jamaica—Another day, another daring heist in the bustling tourist hotspot of Ocho Rios, St Ann. The daring thieves struck at the prestigious Gem Palace on Main Street in the early hours of Monday morning, making off with a haul of precious jewelry.

The audacious break-in took place in a narrow window between 3:20 a.m. and 3:40 a.m., catching the attention of authorities only a few minutes later. As the police rushed to the scene, it became clear that the perpetrators had meticulously planned the operation, cutting through the entrance grille and shattering the glass door with brazen disregard for the law.

When summoned to the scene, the store’s owners could only confirm that a significant amount of jewelry had been snatched, leaving the total value unknown. Meanwhile, initial investigations pointed to a shadowy figure in a black hooded jacket fleeing the scene, disappearing into the night along bustling Main Street.

The St Ann police believe a faulty tire may have caused a bus to crash in Fern Gully, St. Ann, on Sunday, March 31, 2024. One woman died, and over a dozen children were injured in the crash. The victims were on a trip to St. Ann when the bus crashed.

SSP Dwight Powell said that the right front tire of the bus blew out near Fern Gully, causing the driver to lose control and collide on the left side of the road. Many passengers were injured and taken to St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. 15 victims are still in the hospital, including seven children and eight adults with serious injuries.

12 of the victims, including seven adults and five children, are being treated at St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. Two children and an adult were transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies and Kingston Public Hospital for further treatment.

SSP Powell expressed concern about the increase in road fatalities in St. Ann. He pointed out that there have been ten fatal collisions resulting in 12 deaths since the beginning of the year, compared to seven collisions and seven deaths at the same time last year. He urged the public to follow road rules and use caution, especially on the main road between Mammee Bay and Discovery Bay.
