Tragedy Strikes in St Ann, Jamaica
According to Observer Online, early Sunday morning, March 31, 2024, a devastating motor vehicle accident occurred along the Fern Gully main road in St Ann. The incident claimed the life of a woman while leaving six others in serious condition. The name of the deceased has not been disclosed by the authorities.

The heart-wrenching event unfolded just before midday when a 15-seater vehicle carrying 23 passengers lost control and collided with an embankment. In the aftermath, the police swiftly responded and provided assistance to the injured individuals, who were then taken to St Ann’s Bay Hospital. Tragically, the unnamed woman passed away, and the others were admitted for medical care.
It’s reported that 16 children and seven adults were among the passengers. Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, leading the St Ann police force, emphasized the importance of respecting speed limits and adhering to road regulations.

Shady characters masquerading as passengers perpetrated a brazen robbery on a taxi operator in Spanish Town, making off with $60,000 in cash and other belongings before callously ejecting him from his own vehicle.

According to police reports, on the night of Saturday, March 30, 2024, at around 10:50 p.m., the taxi driver was flagged down by two individuals while driving along Morrison Street in Spanish Town. Once inside the vehicle, one of the culprits brandished a firearm while the other covered the driver’s head with a bag.
With the driver at their mercy, the perpetrators seized $60,000 in cash and several personal items. They then seized control of the vehicle and callously discarded the driver into a canal along a stretch of St John’s Road.
The brazen criminals fled the scene with the vehicle, abandoning it near GC Foster College, where it was eventually discovered by authorities.
The Spanish Town law enforcement is actively pursuing the case.
A Kingston Man Wanted for Murder Surrenders to Police.
In a significant development, a man from Kingston who was previously listed as wanted for murder has voluntarily turned himself in to the authorities.

A 29-year-old murder suspect surrendered himself to the police after being listed as wanted by the authorities. Ashwane McKenzie turned himself in at the Half-Way Tree Police Station on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, accompanied by his attorney.
On Saturday, March 30, 2024, he was interviewed by the police and subsequently charged with conspiracy to murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and use of a firearm to commit a felony. His court appearance date is pending.
The police have linked McKenzie and another individual to the alleged attack and fatal shooting of Cedric Thompson, a 32-year-old laborer from Church Street in Fletcher’s Land, Kingston, which occurred on August 11, 2023.
While one of the suspects identified by investigators is deceased, the police have advised the remaining individual, Calvin Simon, to surrender himself at any police station. In the meantime, the public has been urged to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation by contacting Crime Stop at 311, the police 119 number, or their local police station.
