A Suspect Charged in Connection with Fatal Shooting in May Pen
Police indicted the suspect accused in connection with the tragic shooting incident that took place at a shop in May Pen, resulting in the loss of nine-year-old Shamar Walker’s life and causing injury to the shopkeeper. This heart-wrenching incident has evoked deep emotions and the community demands justice for the innocent lives affected.
Joel Williams, aged 25, has been charged by law enforcement officers with murder, shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
According to reports, the incident unfolded at approximately 7:45 p.m. on January 26, 2024, when an unidentified individual entered the premises and proceeded to open fire after lingering at the shop for about 30 minutes. The gunfire tragically struck the young boy and the woman present.
Following the shooting, both victims were swiftly transported to the hospital, where the young boy was pronounced dead, and the woman was admitted in serious condition.
Detectives are working on the theory that the woman was the intended target of the attack, possibly linked to a recent robbery at her shop.
Joel Williams is scheduled to appear in the Clarendon Parish Court on March 28 to face these charges.
Two charged in New Year’s Day stabbing incident in St Elizabeth.
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to a violent altercation that occurred in Teague district, St Elizabeth, on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2024.
Christopher Morgan, aged 49, a farmer of Lacovia district, and Shamar Morgan, aged 24, a cabinet maker from the same community, stand accused of wounding with intent.
According to reports, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a confrontation among a group of men escalated, leading Christopher to repeatedly stab one of the men with a knife. Subsequently, Shamar used a knife to wound another individual in the face.
Both victims were promptly transported to the hospital and admitted for treatment.
An investigation was promptly initiated following a report to the authorities. Following a question-and-answer interview, Christopher and Shamar Morgan were arrested and charged. Their court dates are currently pending.
The police charged a suspect in a music producer’s murder.
A man has been accused of committing murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old music producer on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew, on February 24, 2024.
Karmarley Coburn, 30, of Premix Road in Papine, St Andrew, has also been accused of shooting with intent and causing injury with intent. According to reports from the Constant Spring police, at around 2:20 a.m., Keshawen Young of Hope Avenue, Mandeville, Manchester, was attending a party.
It is alleged that while parking his car, two armed individuals approached him and fired shots, injuring him and another individual.
The assailants then purportedly fled in a Honda Stream car. A police team responded to reports of gunfire and assisted the injured individuals to the hospital, where Young was pronounced dead and the other individual received medical treatment.
Following an investigation, the accused was apprehended and formally charged on Wednesday, following an interview and the giving of a caution statement in the presence of his legal counsel.
His court appearance date is currently pending.
Man Charged with Assault and Vehicle Theft in St. Catherine.
A 31-year-old man, Romaine Oliver of Frenchman Heights in Spanish Town, has been charged with assault at common law and larceny of a motor vehicle.
The incident occurred on Alabasta Close in Spanish Town, where Oliver allegedly stole a Toyota Coaster bus in the early hours of Tuesday, March 5. The owner tracked and intercepted the bus, leading to a confrontation during which Oliver reportedly wielded a knife and engaged in a physical altercation.
The police subsequently arrested him, and he is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, March 12.
