A Beryllium security officer lost their life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, following a fatal shooting at the company’s South Camp Road offices.
Superintendent Berrisford Williams, head of the Kingston Central police, has reported that the shooting is believed to have been accidental.
Initial accounts suggest that a firearm discharged, striking a guard stationed at the premises. The wounded officer was swiftly transported to the hospital, where they were later pronounced dead by the authorities.
Authorities are actively conducting an investigation into this deeply unfortunate event.

The Denham Town police report that at about 8:50 p.m., a police team was on patrol when explosions were heard.
The team responded, and on arrival, the man was seen lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was assisted to the hospital. Unfortunately, the authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
Later, the police say another man turned up at the hospital and reported that he was shot and injured in the same environment.
He is being treated at the hospital.

A man involved in business was shot and wounded early this morning, on February 13, 2024, during an alleged attempted robbery at the Oaklands apartment complex in St Andrew.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. in the E Block of the Oakland apartment complex. Nearby residents reported hearing loud gunshots, followed by a woman’s desperate cries for help.
The injured man was swiftly taken to the hospital, although his current condition remains undisclosed.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
