Police held truck driver with illegal gun and ammo in St Elizabeth.

Law enforcement officers in St Elizabeth arrested a 35-year-old truck driver from Clarendon after seizing an illegal firearm and ammunition during a police operation on the New Market Main Road in St Elizabeth on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

The St. Elizabeth police reported that law enforcement officers stationed at a motor vehicle checkpoint along the New Market Main Road signaled the driver of a white 2010 Toyota Allion to stop.

The driver complied, and during a search of the car, the police reportedly discovered a black and silver Springfield Smith and Wesson pistol fitted with a magazine containing 17 cartridges.

Additionally, the police stated that the pistol has a serial number that is barely visible to the naked eye.

The police confiscated the vehicle and detained the suspect pending further investigation.

Gum Shoes, attached to The Lottery Scam Task Force, reported the apprehension and charge of a Bogue Village, St. James suspect following a targeted raid on his home by the police on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

The authorities said they have formally charged Damarion Spence, age 21, a resident of Bogue Village, Montego Bay, with possession of identity information and possession of an access device.

The authorities said law enforcement officers acted on intelligence on the day in question and conducted a detailed search at the suspect’s home. During the search, which started at 4:00 a.m. and ended at 7:00 a.m., the Gum Shoes found eight US bank debit cards, a laptop, and a cellular phone.

Then, the police analyzed Spence’s laptop and mobile phone on-site, revealing the identity and banking information of people living abroad.

The police subsequently arrested and charged Spence. His court appearance date is pending.

The St Mary Police successfully recaptured Linton Bailey, a member of the seven inmates who broke out of the Oracabessa police detention center in December 2023. Linton Bailey, 22, was apprehended in a dragnet the police staged in the Wilderness community in St Mary, where they found him in an overgrown vegetated area.

With this development, the authorities emphasize the seriousness of the situation and continue to actively search for the remaining six escapees. They also issued a stern reminder that harboring a fugitive is a criminal offense.
