DECOY DISTRICT, CLARENDON, JAMAICA–The Clarendon police charged the suspect, who was taken into custody on Sunday after he allegedly fatally stabbed a motorist following a minor traffic accident on Decoy Main Road in Toll Gate.
The police identified the deceased as 28-year-old Okan Kelley, a supermarket employee of the Decoy district in Toll Gate.
Charged with murder is Christopher Sullivan, also known as ‘Bread,’ a 39-year-old laborer from Ebony Park Housing Scheme in Toll Gate.
According to reports, on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at about 2:30 p.m., Kelley was driving a grey Toyota Axio motor car along the Decoy Main Road when the mirror of his vehicle hit the mirror of a Toyota Probox driven by the suspect.
Both drivers stopped, and a verbal altercation developed between them, during which the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab Kelly in his upper body.
Kelley reportedly drove himself home, and friends transported him to the hospital. He died while receiving treatment.
Hospital authorities summoned the police. Upon arrival, the police observed Kelley’s body with stab wounds to his left shoulder, arm, and upper back.
While visiting with relatives of Mr. Kelley on Monday, October 30, 2023, the Commanding Officer for the Clarendon Division, Superintendent Carlos Russell, lamented that despite appeals from the authorities, people continue to resort to violence to resolve conflicts.
Sullivan remains in custody, and his court date is pending.
Security guard arrested after using his vehicle as a weapon and injuring two people
WOOD HALL, CLARENDON, JAMAICA–The Clarendon police took a security guard into custody following allegations that he used his motor vehicle to hit two people during a dispute.
According to reports, a 42-year-old farmer and a 29-year-old woman were seriously injured in the incident, which occurred along Wood Hall Road in the parish.
The farmer and the 30-year-old security guard were involved in an altercation that turned physical.
Members of the community reportedly intervened and separated the men.
But shortly after, the suspect saw the farmer and the woman walking along the roadway and allegedly drove his grey Toyota Probox at the two.
The woman was knocked into a nearby canal and sustained multiple injuries.
Hospital authorities have her in serious condition.
The farmer also sustained injuries.
The security guard is in the hospital under police guard after he sustained injuries during the collision.
The police are expected to charge him following his discharge from the hospital.
