Police charged one man with murder and another with robbery.

LAKES PEN ROAD, ST CATHERINE, JAMAICA – Detectives assigned to the Spanish Town Police Station charged a 18-year-old suspect with unlawful homicide after he allegedly fatally stabbed a man with a knife during a dispute in Lakes Pen Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine, on October 6, 2023.

The police identified the suspect as Kishma Haughton, age 18, a ramp assistant of Davidson Crescent, Kingston 20.

No longer among the living is 35-year-old Rayan Mendez, a ramp assistant and resident of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11.

The allegations state that on Friday, October 6, 2023, at about 9:00 a.m., Mendez and Haughton were embroiled in a dispute during which Haughton allegedly stabbed Mendez four times with a knife.

The police transported Mendez to the Spanish Town hospital in St Catherine, where the authorities triaged him before transferring him to a medical facility in Kingston, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police arrested and charged Haughton on Sunday, October 21, 2023, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of an attorney.

Haughton court appearance date is pending.

22-y-o petty thief charged following alleged robbery of woman’s cell phone.

St Andrew Central Police arrested and charged a St Andrew man after he allegedly held up and robbed a woman of a Samsung cellphone along Hagley Park Road, Kingston 10, on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

The authorities charged Leyan Ward, aged 22, of Omara Road, Kingston 10, with robbery with aggravation and unlawful wounding.

The police stated that at about 9:00 p.m. on the day in question, the complainant was walking along Hagley Park Road when the suspect approached her armed with a knife. He proceeded to rough her up and robbed her of a Samsung cellphone valued at $29,000.

During the scuffle, the complainant sustained injuries to her left hand, right elbow, and right knee.

She reported the incident to the police, and the police launched an investigation. They arrested Ward and charged him on Monday, October 30, 2023.

His court appearance date is pending.
