Early Sunday morning, October 22, 2023, law enforcement officers killed three people suspected of robbery during a confrontation in Rae Town, Kingston. This led to a protest in the community.
The authorities identified the deceased individuals as 19-year-old fishermen named Carlo Faulknor, also known as ‘CJ,’ from Paradise Street; Andre ‘Max’ Turner from Johns Street; and Shaheed Morgan, also known as ‘Tinado,’ from Johns Street.
According to reports, the officers responded to a robbery along Michael Manley Boulevard near Rae Town, where the suspects held up and robbed two couples, taking their money and cell phones.
The authorities traced one of the stolen phones to a location on Paradise Street in Rae Town, where the men allegedly engaged in a shootout with the police. All three men were shot and killed by the police.
Superintendent of Police Tomilee Chambers, who is in charge of the Kingston Eastern Police Division, stated that the officers found two illegal firearms, three magazines, and over 27 rounds of ammunition in possession of the suspects.
INDECOM has initiated an investigation into the shooting.
Thugs killed two and injured three in Priory cook shop gun attack.
Two men were killed and three others, including a teenager, were injured during a shooting in Priory, St Ann.
The victims were at a shop on Priory Main Road when two men got out of a car and started shooting at them. Dwight Harrison, 42, from Riverhead in Moneague, St Ann, and Nicholas Hobson, 38, from Priory, St Ann, were identified as the deceased.
Harrison died at the scene, while Hobson passed away at the hospital. The other three victims are in serious condition.
The police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
Gunmen and cops trade bullets after attempted ATM theft in Clarendon.
CLARENDON, Jamaica – Gunmen who attempted to rob an automated teller machine early Sunday morning, October 22, 2023, in Crofts Hill, Clarendon, left empty-handed.
According to unconfirmed reports, at around 4 a.m., the gunmen attempted to steal the ATM when law enforcement officers accosted them.
A shootout ensued, and the gunmen fled the scene. The gunmen did not breach the machine.
It was unclear whether anyone was hurt.
The Police cordoned off the area and launched a search for the men following the incident.
Police charged Kingston Western man after seizing a gun and ammo.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, law enforcement officers from the Kingston Western Division charged a suspect with breaches of the Firearms Act after they found a gun and ammunition in his possession.
The authorities charged Marko Frazer, 21, a catering assistant from Blunt Street, Kingston, with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Police, at about 11:00 p.m., a team of officers responded to a call on Blunt Street, where Frazer and his child’s mother had a dispute.
Upon arrival, the cops searched the premises occupied by the suspect. During the search, the officers allegedly found one Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten 9mm rounds of ammunition.
The Police arrested Frazer and subsequently charged him after a question-and-answer session in his attorney’s presence.
Frazer’s court date is pending.
