KINGSTON, Jamaica— A fire broke out on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Jamaica Post Central Sorting Office on South Camp Road in Kingston.

The Jamaica Post Central Sorting Office employees on South Camp Road in Kingston had to evacuate the building after a fire began at the back of the premises on Monday morning.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that the fire began sometime after 9 a.m. 

Firefighters and law enforcement officers responded to the scene.

The cause of the blaze is not yet determined.

Policeman arrested while allegedly soliciting bribe in Spanish Town.

Yet-to-be-confirmed reports indicated that members of the Inspectorate of Professional Standards Oversight Bureau arrested a policeman on suspicion of corruption during a covert operation in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The constable is attached to the St Catherine North Traffic Department. He was on duty at about 4 pm, when his colleagues held him.  

He was allegedly soliciting money from a motorist when undercover cops swooped down and arrested him.

The Police say they are continuing their investigation of the matter.

Police seized a Shotgun and ammo seized in Portland.

 PORTLAND, Jamaica – Law enforcement officers seized a shotgun and seven rounds of ammunition during an operation in Halls Avenue, Port Antonio, Portland, on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

According to reports, at about 11:40 am, law enforcement officers from the Port Antonio Police Department, acting on information, searched an abandoned building in the community.

The Police recovered one Benelli Nova 12 gauge shotgun and seven 12 gauge cartridges during the search.

The Police did not make any arrests. Investigation continues.

Police seized a firearm and ammunition in Canaan Heights, Clarendon.

 Clarendon, Jamaica –On Saturday, October 21, 2023, a team of Gum Shoes from the Clarendon Police Division seized one firearm during a Canaan Heights, Clarendon operation.

According to the May Pen Police, at about 11:55 p.m., law enforcement officers were on patrol in the community when they stopped at a party to determine whether the organizer had a permit. 

While the Police team was leaving the premises, they found one Taurus PT 92 AF 9mm pistol with a magazine containing fourteen 9mm rounds on the ground.

The Police did not make any arrests. 

The investigation continues.
