Police charged a Denham Town suspect with PNP activist daughter’s murder.

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Detectives from the Kingston Western Division charged a Denham Town fisherman with murder and wounding, stemming from an incident during which he and others gunned down a woman and injured a man along Orange Lane in Kingston on October 1, 2023.

The authorities identified the suspect as Keimo Jaydean, age 27, of Mill Lane in Denham Town, Kingston. 

The police charged him with the murder of a PNP activist daughter, Anique Walters, age 31, a security supervisor of Nelson Street, Kingston 14, wounding with intent, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

According to reporting, at about 10:50 p.m., Walters was a passenger in a motor vehicle driven by an unidentified man along Orange Lane. Upon reaching a particular section of the roadway, the suspect and two other men ambushed and opened fire on them–hitting the couple multiple times.

The police responded and transported the victims to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced Walters dead and admitted the man for treatment. 

Law enforcement officers launched an investigation, which led them to arrest the suspect. The police charged him on Thursday, October 12, 2023. His court date is pending.

Court found St Catherine taxi operator guilty of rape of teen passenger.

 A St Catherine Circuit Court Judge found a taxi operator guilty of rape and abduction of a then 15-year-old schoolgirl who was a passenger in his cab.

The seven-member jury returned a unanimous verdict convicting 43-year-old Christof Vernon of Spanish Town in the St Catherine Circuit Court.

The Judge, Justice Bertram Morrison, remanded Vernon for sentencing on December 1, 2023.

According to the case file, on the day the incident occurred in 2017, Vernon picked up the then-15-year-old complainant, and during the journey, he sexually attacked her inside his motor car.

The victim later reported the violation to the police’s Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

CISOCA launched an investigation that resulted in the police arresting and charging Vernon.

Police charged two Central Village men with the October 6, 2023 shooting.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— On Friday, October 13, detectives in St Catherine charged two suspects who allegedly shot and injured the complainant during an incident in Central Village, St Catherine on October 6, 2023.

The police indicted suspects Kevin Morgan, age 29, a farmer, and Denardo James, age 23, a Merchandiser, for wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Both men are from First Avenue in St Catherine.

According to a report from the Central Village police, at about 11:15 p.m., a man visited a woman in the community, and a group of gunmen attacked and opened gunfire at him, hitting him in the upper body.

The man reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a wall. He ran from the vehicle and alerted the police.

Law enforcement officers transported the complainant to the hospital, where the authorities treated him.

The police launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspects the following day. The police charged James following questioning in the presence of

his attorney. They indicted Morgan on Friday, October 13, 2023. 

The police are yet to decide on a court date for the accused.

Police Charge 4 in Connection With Hiace Bus Theft

Detectives attached to the St Andrew North Police Division arrested and charged four suspects with stealing a Toyota Hiace bus in West Kirkland Heights, Red Hills, St Andrew, on September 19, 2023.

The suspects are Dwight Dryden, age 29, of a Red Hills Road address; Kasean Brown, age 19, of Central Village in St Catherine; Donte Cole, age 23, of a Spanish Town, St Catherine address; and Dewane Leckie, age 40, of Greater Portmore, St Catherine. 

The police charged the men with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

They will appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, October 20, 2023.

The police recovered the vehicle during an operation on October 12, 2023. The criminals altered the engine and chassis number of the vehicle. 

Head of the St Andrew North Police Division, Senior Superintendent Sherika Service, disclosed that the police also recovered a Toyota Wish during the operation to apprehend the men. 

She said the criminals stole the Toyota Wish in September in the Irish Town community of St Andrew.
