Unknown assailants ambushed, shot, and injured a serving police officer in a section of dangerous Central Village, where he was visiting a friend, Friday night, October 6, 2023.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 11 o’clock in the section of the commonly called Compound.
According to reporting, the cop heard explosions and hurriedly scampered to his vehicle.
Upon reaching his vehicle, a group of thugs allegedly opened fire at him, hitting him in his back. He reportedly returned fire, forcing his attackers to retreat.
A police team responded to the shooting and found him.
The injured cop is attached to the St Catherine North police division. His colleagues transported him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where the authorities admitted him.
St. Catherine businessman charged with robbing and shooting truck driver in St Ann.
ST ANN, Jamaica – Detectives in St. Ann charged a St. Catherine businessman with robbery and wounding with intent concerning an incident in Moneague, St. Ann, in August.
The Police arrested and charged Marvin Robinson, age 38, of Rose Hall District, Linstead, St Catherine, with robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, and the use of a prohibited weapon.
According to the St. Ann’s Bay police, at about 1:15 p.m., Robinson and another man held up and robbed the truck driver who went to deliver goods.
The robbers opened fire on the complainant, wounding him, before escaping with approximately $35,000 and the complainant’s Isuzu motor truck.
The Police responded to the scene and transported the complainant to the hospital, where he received treatment.
Law enforcement officers launched an investigation, which led them to arrest and charge Robinson. The Police are currently seeking his accomplice.
Robinson’s Court date is pending.
Police charged a suspect after allegedly finding a firearm under his house.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – On Friday, October 6, 2023, law enforcement authorities in Westmoreland arrested and charged a suspect after Police allegedly found a pistol and several rounds of ammunition under his house in Whitehall, Negril, Westmoreland.
The Police charged Rick Grayson, age 24, a laborer of Whitehall in Negril, Westmoreland, with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the authorities, at about 11:15 p.m., a joint police/military operation was in progress in the community when law enforcement officers observed the suspect walking along the roadway.
Upon seeing the officers, the suspect ran to the back of a house. The Police pursued, caught, and searched the suspect and his surroundings.
During the search, the Police found one Glock 17 pistol with a magazine containing three 9mm rounds of ammunition under the house he occupied.
The authorities charged the suspect following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court appearance date is pending.
